Ukraine ‘deserves’ NATO membership, Turkey’s Erdogan says

Erdogan angers Putin with ‘betrayal’ of Azov prisoner release

Kremlin spokesman calls for ‘significant’ consequences amid claims Turkey has sent ‘a message’ over support for Ukraine

Erodgan is playing both Russia and Ukraine

he is a very wise man

only country in the world who manages to talk to both East and West and milks both

all the while making money out of it too

well played Mr Erdogan

he is a very wise man
Or very stupid.

He's still doing the same mistakes as in the mid-2010s. He is neither on one side nor neutral. He involves Turkey everywhere actively and betrays all sides. He thinks this is smart, but it will eventually cause more problems.

His diplomatic positioning of the country and involvement in the Ukraine-Russia war is widely considered to be a success, even his critics admit that.

Your 'Türkiye bad!' stance is clouding your judgement.

I also wouldn't say its smart politics. Its how Turkey shot Russian plane in Syria and then wouldn't apologise, the west were happy, then apologised and made Russia happy and bought the s400, west started to place sanctions on Turkey, kicked out Turkey from F35, he was unhappy for years but now is starting to take west side regarding Ukraine becoming Nato member. Turkey should stick with being the peace maker between the west and Russia and not take sides.

Same with Syria, He was close to Basshar al Assad, once the war started he went anti assad but that made the Kurds very powerful in Syria, so Turkey shot themselves in the foot. Now all Arabs are becoming close to Bashar al Assad but Turkey is stuck. The Syrian war has made the Kurds very powerful players and they're anti Turkey. What benefit did Turkey get? They thought Bashar is finished and Muslim Brotherhood is coming to power. Turkey needs to improve its relations with Syria to check the Kurds.

Similar with Egypt, he openly took MB side against the military but is stuck now, Saudi Arabia quickly changed their side from pro MB to anti MB because they knew the real power is the Egyptian military.

It's a success. For now. But Russians and Westerners don't forget every betrayal and every time Erdogan's government has played "tough". Eventually, one of them will have enough of it.

Especially if Erdogan decides to give more heavy arms and substantial help to Ukraine. As soon as the Russians manage to start a big production of weapons and equipment needed for the war and especially get some quality equipment, they will again have a negative stance towards Turkey, just like in 2014-2016.

erdogan is undercover part of the nwo program.
Erdoğan was never anti-NATO, never. He clearly, publicly and repeatedly defended the country’s membership in the alliance.

His perceived anti-NATO stance is something that his groupies in Pakistan and the Middle East simply made up instead of facing the cold reality.

Exactly that! Exactly that!

But that's the weird thing. He acted as if he wanted Turkey to be kicked out of NATO. Just like he nagged about Europeans not letting Turkey into EU,but at the same time doing everything not to get Turkey in EU. It's like he's saying "I want to go to that store" and walks the other way. As if he wants to get in a club, but slaps the bouncer.

If it weren't a success, Putin wouldn't want to visit Türkiye next month. Erdoğan deserves a lot of criticism for a myriad of reasons but his Ukraine/Russia policy is so far a text book example of wise and proactive actions in the field of international relationships.

Putin and Erdogan have a lot to talk about. They might have some deals,Putin might want to set some boundaries, they sure have a lot to talk about, that's for sure. Erdogan's pressed economically,Putin is pressed with the war,Zelensky needs Turkey's help,Turkey needs stuff Ukraine can provide...maybe even NATO and Russia want both to slowly back away from the conflict in a way that will make them both seem like winners or maybe Putin just wants to threaten Erdogan.

We'll see. It's interesting though!
