Japan's ambassador Shiro Sadoshima said Monday Bangladesh could be the one of the best destinations for Japanese investors involved in the small and medium enterprise (SMEs) sector.
He made the remarks while meeting with the President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Md. Sabur Khan at the chamber office in the city.
The Japanese envoy also suggested that Bangladesh attract more investment by removing barriers.
He put stress on strengthening strong communication channel and information sharing between Bangladesh and Japan in order to enhance bilateral trade. He said that Bangladesh has a plenty of quality people at the mid-level management.
DCCI President expressed his interest to establish a "Help Desk" at DCCI to boost trade. He said entrepreneurs will get expected partners through this help desk.
He also said that the help desk will facilitate collecting information and dissemination as well as searching of potential sectors of investment.
It will also provide services of information gathering, match- making, exchange of trade delegations, trade fairs and buyer-seller meet.
He said the bilateral trade volume between Bangladesh and Japan is always in favour of Japan, which needs to be balanced through more imports.
He called upon Japan to assist Bangladesh by giving technological support in product diversification and market expansion.
First Secretary of Japanese Embassy Takayuki Kawakami was present at the meeting.
