England opening batsman Alex Hales has signed up for the next edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) alongside compatriot Jake Ball and South Africa’s David Wiese, according to the league’s official Twitter account.

Best remembered for his knock of 171 in the third ODI against Pakistan at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, Hales will be following suit of England cricketers Moeen Ali, Jason Roy, and Steve Finn, James Anderson and Stuart Broad, who agreed to join the league last week.

The opener has played 45 T20Is for England, with an average of 31.42 and a strike rate of 133.86.

Let's welcome @AlexHales1 @JakeBall & @David_Wiese They have just signed up for #HBLPSL draft 2017 #BiggerAndBetter

5:28 PM - 10 Sep 2016

Earlier last week, South Africa’s Wayne Parnell and New Zealand’s Anton Devcich also signed up for the tournament, which is slated to take place next year.

Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum and current England limited overs skipper Eoin Morgan had also been inducted for the drafting process for the tournament’s second edition. The draft is expected to be held in Dubai this year rather than Lahore as the national side will be hosting the West Indies in the United Arab Emirates.

More international stars join PSL roster

According to PSL officials, Lahore Qalandars, who finished last in the inaugural edition of the tournament, have the right to make the first 20 picks, followed by Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. Defending champions Islamabad United will be the last ones to do so.

Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Johnson is also expected to be part of the second edition. Separately, PSL Player Recruitment Head Faisal Mirza is looking to bring in more big names. The PSL Governing Council has also decided to raise players’ salaries by 10% across all categories.

it would be fun to watch Brendon McCullum.

We should sign Usman Khawaja and Imran Tahir too. These Pakistani born/origin players

. . .
They should've added one more team in PSL ..

I agree, apparently the current 5 team owners refused to accept a new team this year. Lets hope they dont do this again next year. 5 teams are simply not enough for a country the size of Pakistan. Otherwise the PSL has been amazing.

. . . . . .
last year many foreign players were not chosen despite availability so instead of adding a domestic team they may add one team with all 20 International Players. It will bring strong competition and may further raise the quality of cricket. Further Lahore Qalandars with sponsors are going in different distant areas of Punjab to search for new players which is good for country other franchises should also follow their path. We have example of IPL which was criticized in the beginning but now most of former cricketers confess the positive impact and flow of new players in Indian cricket.

.
great signing this. Alex Hales is a quality T20 bat.
