For some time....agreedI have never seen the united States so disrespected and its standing so low
I dont think its been this low since before WW2
Although it remains the worlds super power
For some time....agreed
But quite sure....days are numbered....
As i said days are numbered...superpower starts nose diving when other major and minor powers starts objecting it...and this is start of US nose diving...Russia was a big military might but CIA/Charlie Wilson destroy it in Afghanistan. The question is What makes a superpower?
America is still a military superpower
It continues to be world's largest economy
But we live in a multi polar world where you can live without the U.S and other countries are standing up
Its American prestige and standing which has been decimated
Its high point was after the collapse of the Soviet Union
The USA was the centre of the world, its sole superpower, defender of democracy, equality and justice (even if it was mostly bull)
It maintained this respect through the 1990s and had world sympathy after 9/11
But it has since been in free fall after WMD lies, needless wars and arm twisting etc
Obama was a stop against the inevitable but Trump has just destroyed in 1 year american standing, it is now reduced to making unilateral decisions, making threats and trying to bully the world
It is no longer the defender of democracy, equality and diversity
America as we knew it is no more
We are in the midst of a multi-polar world, the clout of the Yanks has begun to decline due to the Sept-11/subprime lending/WOT debacles.Kudos Rattay Sahib
UN-related development might give the impression of US loosing its clout but it is unlikely to influence "situation on the ground." Israel controls much of Jerusalem regardless and US might move its embassy there at some point. Actions carry more weight than words, to be honest.
However, world is expected to become multi-polar once again. US is the TOP DOG of the WEST and will remain so in years to come but rise of China looks inevitable on the other hand.
I would not underestimate US at this juncture though. US can take action against North Korea, pit India against China and commence new economic initiatives across the world. US can also take action against Iran and other states for their defiance. Let us see what happens.
I disagree. US is past the high water mark which was about mid 1990s. The reduction of a superpower is not abrupt or like switching off a light. But rather like fading of light from day to night. Right now USA is in the late afternoon and the Chinese are early morning. USA can only go toward night and China only high noon. There is nothing superlative about USA. It is not end of history. Like previous empires have gone so will USA.US can also take action against Iran and other states for their defiance. Let us see what happens.
Honestly I think this Jerusalem as the Capital and the UN vote is just a prelude to some big scientific achievement announcement by Israel. For instance say they have figured out Nuclear Fusion and the world comes to them to solve their energy problems. Now they are going to license the tech first to the countries (and construction companies in them) that didn’t vote against them and make everybody get stuck in red tape. Something along those lines.
I think this whole thing is not as simple as people seem. They have a rabbit in their hat that they are going to pull out.
