Dubai: The Emirati man who uploaded a gruesome video showing a live cat being fed to his hungry dogs has been ordered to clean Dubai Zoo for four hours every day for 90 days.



The punishment was ordered by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, a day after the man and his two employees were arrested by Dubai Police at a farm.



Dubai Media office said: “By orders from Mohammad Bin Rahid, the men involved in cat cruelty incident to clean Dubai zoo facilities for four hours daily for three month as community service because of their savage and cruel behaviour which is against our values and Islam that always courage to be mercy on animals.”



On Tuesday, the three men were arrested by Dubai Police after the Emirati man posted the gruesome video of feeding a cat to dogs.














On Wednesday, Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Dubai Police chief, praised Shaikh Mohammad’s order for community service punishment.



“Shaikh Mohammed keen to protect the Emirati values which emphasise on mercy and reject any form of violence even against animals. The inappropriate conduct is not acceptable and punishable by the law,” Major General Al Merri said.



“The community service orders the person to serve the society and also helps to raise awareness about the negative side of such offences. The punishment will act as a deterrent for all.”



On Tuesday, he had identified the man behind this horrible video and arrested him for killing the cat.



The shocking video, that showed a man holding a live cat in a cage and feeding it to two dogs, outraged residents and officials from different departments.

Don't worry this punishment is really severe as the Zoo's really stink and four hours a day will make him fatigued for the rest of day, in addition, to putting his life into risk while entering the cages of dangerous animals... though they would take safety measures but still the uncertainty and doubt will stress his mind beyond imagination..

Yar of course, I won't watch it.. despite the fact I have strong nerves but still I can't stand the gore, the violence and such an insane and gruesome act..
But I think once or twice in those 90 days he will get into dangerous situation and it is very well possible a beast may attack him if the caretakers made a mistake ( may be deliberate "mistake") and let door open..

It's good to live in a stable country under a monarchy. A monarch is not a president, weak, shackled, and influenced by whoever has the most money, wither corporations or people. And not a inferiority complex ridden dictator who is an illiterate military person, uneducated and mostly from an underprivileged diaspora.

A monarch with full support from those around him... is a stable monarch. The moment that support break or switch to someone else... failure happen and chaos with follow..till the next stable "monarch"
The problem in monarchy, you can't choose the next one... therfore the next could be good or not and you will have no choice, only to obey or not... TILL he's dead ( so 1 days to 70 years.. or more)

With democracy, you have a choice in the next and a limited time to enjoy or hate him... meaning you state could survive... while full monarchy you can't...

As you said it's all about chances.

For me the chances of a career politician who's only going to be a leader for a limited amount of time to:
1- Resist temptations of things he usually lacks (immense wealth, power) things that he's not used to.
2- Second, resist pressures from practically stronger entities (Corporations, businessmen, religious heads).
3- Choosing to serve people and working tirelessly knowing that this is an "unthankable" job and that he will only get recognition postmortem.
is less than a monarch.

Of course there's disparity, but I believe that in whatever system you have, it's inevitable that power and wealth aggregate and be held by a small group of people, and in systems like democracy for example, these concentrations of power will see it imperative to hide since them declaring, in one way or another, that they are the true rulers may jeopardize the system's image as a whole which in turn will lead to instability and lose of power.

All of these recent systems are just prolonging the inevitable, so I say it's better to have it from the get go and a at least give a name and an image to a ruler who is at least not an ignorant military or a corruptible career politician instead of dancing around the truth and keep acting in this play.

Good step taken by Dubai authorities. Muslims should be kind to animals and treat them with compassion. A man who can mistreat a cat in such brutal way, definitely lacks human empathy & compassion.

Largely agree with you about certain advantages of having genuine monarchy.

What's important is stability, rule of law and low nepotism & corruption and these factors in turn leads to the monarch/elected officials having support of the masses. GCC monarchs specially that of Qatar, KSA, Kuwait etc seem to enjoy support of the masses. NO need for western diktats and model of governance in such countries.

P.S - the UAE monarchy IMHO is the worse of all GCC monarch when it comes to tyranny and western boot-licking. They are also NOT open to internal GCC cohesion it seems and playing double game helping Iran.

As for democracy - I have absolutely NO problem with elections and elected government BUT I have a problem with democracy. The term Democracy carries a lot of ideological western baggage that are antithetical to islam. Democracy is NOT just elections but have a lot more anti-islamic notions - like individual sovereignty, gender equality, absolute freedom of expression, the right to cause anarchy etc etc. And that is the reason why the West emphasize the Liberal & secular nature of democracy when lecturing Muslims. Any elected Muslim government not upholding the western notion of Human rights and liberties are called autocratic, tyrannical etc eg - Turkey's Erdogan. Even though Turkey is a secular country, the fact that the government & society there is NOT liberal and western enough, is a bitter pill to swallow for the west.

Muslims should rather use the word electocracy or constitutional governance rather than democracy, when advocating an elected forms of governance structure. Also they should know that monarchy is NOT something inherently bad. And yes sisi & assad type imperial boot-licking type slave dictatorships are definitely disastrous and root of all problems in the Muslim world and they should be opposed tooth & nail.
