Elite U.S. school MIT cuts ties with Chinese tech firms Huawei, ZTE

The US is far from unique in having SIGINT capabilities. At least a dozen countries are doing the exact same thing with their SIGINT satellites.

Not sure why you think we need some special moral leadership that other countries get a free pass for. Why don’t you tell countries like Russia and China to drop their SIGINT and go help their people instead?

What is your point of focusing on the NSA specifically while ignoring everybody else? Why are you giving them all a free pass and saying the NSA is some lone Devil in the sky watching down on a helpless world oppressing people. That’s ridiculous. There’s more than just the US up there listening to your cell phone calls.

You are slowly getting around to my point. I like this.

Russia and China DO NOT constantly and publicly accuse the US of grave intervention-justifying human rights abuses and curbing of freedoms, while this is all we have to hear from the US day in and day out. It gets exhausting.

The US has already labeled China and Russia (and other countries that it sees as potential competition) as grave human rights abusers --- yet it indulges in many of the same practices itself! Or, perhaps as Noam Chomsky pointed out: while many Americans may be free, they are also very indoctrinated.

You don't hear Russia and China droning on about XYZ country having (supposed) WMDs or a dictatorship that is curbing citizens' rights as reasons for interventions and bombings --- something the US has become scarily adept at, while selling billions in arms to the Saudi regime, which is perhaps the most vile and backward of any government on the planet.

Hope this helps :)

And the politicization of education in the US continues unabated :coffee:

Note that this has very serious ramifications for the scientific and technological development of a country. The USSR promoted Lysenkoist pseudoscience because they thought the theory of Darwinian selection was too fascist, and as a result, their agricultural science was so backward that grain production fell below the Russian Empire's output. Nazi Germany endorsed 'Deutsche Physik' over 'Jewish Physics' and that totally crippled their nuclear weapons program.

The US might think they have scored a coup by banning 'Chinese Physik' or 'Commie Physik' and choosing 'Freedom Physik' or 'Democracy Physik' instead. But in reality, they are just making themselves a laughing stock by plunging into the abyss of pseudoscience.

u.s end is near as they are isolating them from world and are imposing sanctions on their own selves by doing such acts. The end of cooperation will have bad effect on u.s and decrease mutual benefit for public of both nations

Don’t worry China and Russia give their statements on human rights abuses in the US. But unlike you (or them) we don’t get all defensive, huffy, and uppidy about it. If they point out something that is true the whole country doesn’t point the finger back at “that horribly vile bad foul lying low life wretched degenerate scum Russia and China” for alerting the world to it. We take it in stride.

Here’s the 2017 China one (notice our own media openly reports it)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-claims/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.86072d65e05d
U.S. awash in ‘terrible’ human rights abuses, Chinese government report claims

“A number of flaws in the U.S. system are documented in the text, including gun violence, crime rates, incarceration rates, the influence of money in politics, voter turnout, the expense of the 2016 presidential election, media bias, social polarization, income gaps, a shrinking middle class, poverty, falling life expectancy, falling health standards, a flawed Social Security system, poor race relations, police killings of African Americans, racial disparity, prejudice against Muslims, the gender pay gap, sexual harassment, inadequate protection for children's rights and abuse of the elderly.”

Nothing in the above makes me upset or makes my nationalistic blood boil in severe rage. They are valid points..and more importantly...well known ones too. They weren’t hidden by the US government from us so that the only way we’d find out is by another country alerting us. That’s a big difference.

BTW they didn’t make a peep about the NSA or FBI spying...I wonder why. Think about it.

Poor thing being coerced into cutting ties

New kind of false flag US regime pulls

LOL, the US has got to be the most hypocritical power on the planet.

It's okay for the NSA to snoop on its citizens, of course. Bullying institutions to cut ties under threat of losing federal funding says a lot about academic freedom.

If this was coming from a State that hadn't engaged in senseless wars (no WMDs in Iraq, begging Pakistan for a deal with the Taliban in Afghanistan, failed regime change in Syria, etc.) and did not conduct mass surveillance of its own people, it might have made sense.

NSA does not snoop on US citizens on American soil
