LAHORE: Pakistan's second most populous city and the capital of Punjab has a total of 14 National Assembly and 30 provincial seats up for grabs come July 25.

The major contenders, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), are hopeful for a big win, which is why PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and PTI chairman Imran Khan are contesting from the city.

The other challengers are a mix of old and new faces but none are novices in the political arena.

Lahore has a total of 5,254,532 registered voters, the highest in Pakistan voter registered.

The largest constituency in the city, population and area wise, is NA-124 which has been carved out of the old city area. Its total headcount is 522,226 voters.

Similarly, the smallest constituency is NA-135, with only 243,289 estimated voters.

In 2013, the PML-N, under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, won 12 NA seats from the city out of a total of 13. PTI's Shafqat Mahmood had managed to secure only one NA seat.

Which areas fall into which constituencies in Lahore

LAHORE – The revised delimitation of electoral districts after the sixth population census, conducted in 2017, has come into the open with a visible sign that the arrangement would affect most of the cities across the country, with the effect to be noticed in Punjab’s capital city Lahore as well.

For the convenience of Lahore-based voters, who would be exercising their right to franchise in next few months, Daily Pakistan has demystified the delimitation implying which area of the city would be encompassed in the new constituencies.

NA-123

The National Assembly constituency 118 has been labeled as NA-123 after the latest revisions and the areas falling into its jurisdiction are Shahdara, Sagiyan, Timber Market, SabziMandi, GujjarMohallah, Narowal Road, Abbas Nagar, MohallahPariMehal, KhokarPind, Farukhbad, Begum Kot, Lalazar Colony, Shamsabad, Matchis Factory, Islam Nagar, Sui Gas Road, Main Bazar Sagiyan, QillaMuhammadi, ShamsPura

NA-124

NA-119 has now been labeled as NA-124 with the respective areas as follows:

BadamiBagh, Walled City, Shad Bagh, Misri Shah, Railway Station, QillaGujjar Singh, Lakshmi Chowk, GuwalMadni, Railway Road, KachiAbadiBadamiBagh, UsmanGanjShairanwala Gate, Gumti Bazar Rang Mahal and AndronLohari Gate.

NA-125

According to preliminary delimitations, the National Assembly constituency -120 would now be called NA-125 with the respective areas: Riwaz Garden, Islam Pura, Sunatnagar, Sanda Road, Mohni Road, Mozang, Waris Road, Ganga Ram, Kacha Jail Road, GOR 1, DhobhiMandi, Mozang Ada and Gulshan Ravi.

NA-126

The old constituency for the above mentioned seat of the Lower House of the parliament was NA-121 with the areas: Samnabad, Sodiwal, NawaKot, ShairaKot, BabuSabu, YateemKhana, Chauburji Park, Sabzahzar Scheme, Islamia Park, New-Mozang, Gulshan Ravi, GOR 2, Bahwalpur Road, Rustam Park, Mahjarabad and SodiwalPind.

NA-127

The areas in the said constituency include Baghbanpura, KotKhuwajaSaeed, China Scheme, MahmoodBoti, UET, Mujahdabad, GanjMughalpura, DarsbarayMian, Pakistan Mint, Singh Pura, Jameelahabad, Railway Power House, Baja Line, Nishtar Park. Previously the constituency was called NA-123.

NA-128

The National Assembly Constituency 124 has been revised with the corresponding areas: KaroolPind, Bhaseen, Lakhodair, DhobhiGhat,Darogahwala, FatehGarh, HameedPur, SirajPura, Farooqabad, ManawanFahad Town, Manawan Ali Town, RakhChabeelGopalDeira, Major Muhammad Asif, ChakRampuraAhsan Town, Hando Gujjar and Masjid BoharWali.

NA-129

Previously NA-125, the areas in the domain of the said constituency are: Meo Garden, Mian Meer Pind, Gymkhana, Mughal Pura, Darai Port, Shami Road, LaalPul, TajBagh, SadarCantt Ghaziabad, GhariShaho, Canal Bank, DharamPura, Baja Line, TajPura, tajBagh, Altaf Colony, HarbansPura, Mustafabad, Old Dharmpura, Dhobi Ghat, and Askari phases 10,9,1.

The number of National Assembly Constituency 126 has been revised with the areas including Gulberg, Model Town, Peco Road, Garden Town, IqbalTowm, Wahdat Road, Ichara, Shadman, Firdous Market, Samnabad, KalmaChowk, Old Airport, PIA Colony, Askari 5 Flats, Model Town Extension

NA-132

The areas in the National Assembly Constituency 132 are Barki Hydra, Pangali, Meer Jahman, Jallo, DHA Phase 8, Kahna 9, Town, Committee Kahna, BhattaChowk, Bedian Road, Gajumata, Jhalkay, Gaga, Roadanwala and Heer. Previously, the constituency was designated as NA-130.

NA-133

The areas of Lahore, KotLakhpat, Dilkash Colony, Ittefaq Factory, MolanaShaukat Ali Road, Bagrian Road, Green Town, Liquatabad, Kainchi Amar Sadhu, Township, Johar Town and Wafaqi Colony would fall under NA-133, which was previously NA- 127.

NA-134

The residents of area Kahna Nu, bagrian, Dharampura, RakhChandraba, Kacha Jail Road, Etihad Park, Sitara Colony, Pak Town, Kamahan Road, Sadhoki (Valencia Town), Kacha, Kamahan, Muhammad Ali Colony, GulshanYaseen Colony and Al Miraj Colony would be selecting their representative for NA-134 which was previously classified as NA-129.

NA-135

The following areas of Lahore would under the dominion of NA-135: ThokarNiazBaig, Awan Town, Raiwand Tehsil, RakhKhamba, Kahna Nu, Khushal Park, Jalal Park, Hassan Town, KharakNala, AllamaIqbal Town, Margazar Colony, MeharPura, Mustafabad, Rana Town and Hanjerwal. Previously, the constituency was identified as NA-128.

NA-136

The areas in the National Assembly Constituency 136 are Chong, Manga Mandi, Maraka, Pajiyal, Raiwind City, Nawazishabad, Hyderabad, Hadyatabad, Iqbal Avenue, Bath ShamkayBhatiyan, Mohanewal, BhaiKot, Manga Utar, ShamkayBhattiyan, Ali Hussainabad, Madinah School, Baba Zindapir, Mohnewal and Punjab Housing Authority. Previously, the constituency was assigned the number 128.

Newly Formed Constituency: NA-131

Apart from re-naming the old constituencies, the sixth population census has given birth to a new constituency in Lahore, NA-131 with the areas including R.A Bazar, Nishat Colony, Cavalry, Walton, Defence (DHA), Kamahan, Bedian Road, Airport, Ali Park nadrabad, Arifabad, Chung KhurdBedian, BhattaChowk, Ghosia Park, Shoukat town, Muhammad Pura and Chongi Amar Sadhu.
