Einstein's "Time Dilation" Prediction Verified

Recently I read that scientists were able to teletransport a photon to a place 25kms away...not physically though.
Physicists Achieve Quantum Teleportation of Photon Over 25 Kilometers | IFLScience

Nice, when I read things like this, I feel like doing my masters/Phd in physics, but then physics is interesting when you have someone explain it to you like Michio Kaku, not when you are looking at all those equations.

Of course time dilation is possible....... I experience it on a regular basis, right after inhaling fifth hash cigarette........ time basically gets multiplied by three......... :D

Anything that moves in any direction has a resistant force in the opposite direction, so nothing is new about it, in this case it is the clock mechanism that is slowing down, not time...

If there is a set of identical twins, and one of them gets into a spacecraft and travels at 99.9% the speed of light, for what seems like 25 years here on earth. (Assuming that there is such a spacecraft, of course.) If he travels at that speed and returns to the earth, his twin would be a lot older, but he would have aged only a little. So the one who travelled will look almost just like before, but the one who stayed back would have grey hair, and other signs of old age. In their minds also, the one back on earth would have felt 25 years passing by, but the one who travelled would have only felt a few days go by. But both of them, when they meet, will be in the "present" - the traveller would not be in future. They would be able to shake hands and interact with each other, which would not be possible if one of them had travelled in time and gone "away" in time. (The numbers I gave are only to illustrate the point - to get the real figures, you would have to do a Lorentz transformation, which is pretty easy.)

For one, only few days past by, for other, 25 years. That means, the traveler is watching the other person of future, 25 years - few days. Everything that was in the stationary frame is from 25 years -fews days in future for the one in moving frame. Imaging a clock/calendar instead of the stationary person. The clock of the moving person is on just a few days, while the other clock is showing 25 years. Moving person is 25 years in the future of that stationary frame.

Scientists like Michio kaku make science popular.

Now I know why you and @Horus 're such thick frens :coffee:
You both 're good at derailing threads.

Greater than light travel requires the energy of the Universe, which is infinity right? How is it possible to harness this?
To accelerate anything that has mass to the speed of light, the energy required would be infinite. Hence, impossible.

The total energy in the universe is finite. Very large, but not infinite.

Time travel means travelling into the future or past. So if I travel in time, you will not see me or be able to interact with me. You will exist in the present, but I will exist only in the future (or past). If I time travel 25 years into the future, I will not exist here.

But simply by travelling fast, I might reduce my ageing process and also reduce the duration between events in my reference frame. But you and I will still be able to shake hands.

There is a reason it's called time dilation, and not time travel. Time dilation has been predicted mathematically more than a hundred years back, and verified experimentally as well. But time travel is still a realm of fiction.

Time dilation is provable mathematically, using very elementary logic and some math, as Einstein and Lorentz did. The only thing is that we would have to think very deeply about what time intervals and space intervals mean. That is beyond the scope of this discussion, but if you want to read it from a logical and not too technical point of view, I would suggest Bertrand Russel's "ABC of relativity". That book is written for (smart) laypersons, and explains purely logically, why time and lengths reduce at great speeds. And mass increases.

No, it doesn't mean that at all.:disagree:

As @Kloitra said, t means the same thing.

What you might be confused by is the erroneous conclusion that travelling into future implies travel into past.

As long as we understand that it is a one-way trip, time dilation and time travel are identical.

What does it mean to "travel into the future'?
It means that you go into your time machine and, in one hour, you come out one million years in the future.

How do you do that?
Inside your time machine, you slow time down. You wait inside while time outside "flows past" and you come out when a million years have "flowed past" you.

P.S. To use your example, let's say we are both 25.
You go into your fast moving spaceship and come back. You are 25 and I am 50. You say it's time dilation, not time travel.
What if you come back when I am 75? Still time dilation and not time travel?
After 100 years when I am dead? Still time dilation and not time travel?
After I have been dead a million years? Still time dilation and not time travel?
Remember, you are still 25 but a million years have gone by on Earth.

I think Hash divide the time by n, alcohol multiply times by n.
