An eighth member of Pakistan's cricket squad has tested positive for Covid-19 as the team undergoes quarantine in Christchurch, New Zealand health authorities said Wednesday.
The health department said there was one new confirmed case among the squad and a further two members were being investigated, adding to the seven who previously tested positive over the past week.
The department said the team would not be allowed to train together until doctors were confident it would not lead to more coronavirus cases.
Director-general of health Ashley Bloomfield issued the team with a "final warning" last week for flouting social distancing protocols at their hotel.
No further breaches have been reported since.
Two of the original six cases last week were subsequently found to be historical, meaning they were not infectious, while the other four were active. A seventh member of the squad tested positive on Saturday.
The 53-member tour party, led by skipper Babar Azam, arrived in Christchurch on November 24 for two weeks of quarantine which is mandatory for all overseas arrivals in New Zealand.
All tested negative before leaving Lahore for the five-match tour, which is scheduled to begin with a Twenty20 international in Auckland on December 18.
New Zealand has largely eradicated community transmission of coronavirus recording just 1,704 cases and 25 deaths in a population of five million.

All these have been tested twice in Pakistan before they went to NZ.This raises the question on Pakistan testing and it's covid-19 data.

Instead of being worried about Pakistan, focus on your own hell hole which has the highest covid infestation in the world after US.
Raising questions on NZ testing ?.have the Pakistani authorities questioned NZ testing ?.
Says the chump from a country which has the highest covid cases in the world after Papa Sam.

I hope indian testing is good enough because cases still are going up over there 🤣

Baaki hamare covid data ki fikr na kar its more credible than pajeets

Do you know which tests were used where? The antibody test is quite different from the PCR test in terms of what window of positivity exists during the infectious cycle. Secondly, different test kits have different false positive/ false negative rates. There is no conclusion that can be drawn from these positive cases, other than the simple fact that they must remain isolated until negative.

We show cases because we actually do proper testing ,

Dude 2 tests are conducted on them and both came negative when done in Pakistan ,and I am sure both the tests are not conducted on the same day.
What do you mean by no conclusion can be drawn ,out of 53 people tested for the tour 8 have turned positive and mind you they have been tested twice . What reliability you have from data coming out of such tests.

Just to inform you on the quality of testing:

I had been tested positive despite without even giving the sample, my only fault was that I booked an appointment. It happened in Spain

And you think that dsnt happen in other countries, clerical errors are different.
Out of 53 ,3 passed test that too twice ,then there is something wrong
India is still the COVID champion.
Yes because we test and don't burry our head in the sand and think nothing happened.

Brother why are you agreeing to the false claim that he was making...India recorded just 36000 cases day before yesterday..out of those 36k, 70 percent of the cases are from only 4 states of Delhi,WB,Rajastan,Kerala...None of the other states have cases above 2000.
In south both Telangana and Andhra have been recording below 1000 for over a week. TN and KN have been recording below 1500.
Corona will come to end by march end without any vaccine in India.
