GAYA (BIHAR): Eight persons, including six policemen, were killed in a landmine blast triggered by Maoists near a culvert at Majhaulia village in Bihar's Gaya district on Friday.

"One ASI (Assistant Sub Inspector), five constables, a village sarpanch and one special police officer (SPO) were killed in the blast," Gaya superintendent of police Akhtar Hussain said.

Maoists used improvised explosive devices (IED) to bomb a jeep at Koili culvert around 12.40pm, he said, adding the vehicle was ripped apart in the explosion.

The incident took place at Roshanganj in Sherghati sub-division, on the border of Bihar and Jharkhand.

The security forces were going for a campaign run by an NGO to build awareness among the people against Maoists, Hussain said.

There have been report of loot of arms of the security personnel in the incident.

In the state capital, director general of police Abhyanad said that senior police officers have been asked to visit the spot.

@Windjammer There is a sticky on Indian Maoist insurgency in Indian section. Kindly ask any Mod to transfer it to that.

@Topic RIP to the dead.

Attack shows the NGO to aware people against Maoists is working. This will create more anger against people and Police.

Govt. and NGO programs have helped a lot in reducing the susceptible people for Maoists recruitment.

Thanks for the news. You always seem to be peeking forever into Indian affairs especially stuff that's gotta do with Maoists and Kashmiris. Since you've got a nose that's got the knack of smelling all the crap flying around in India, why don't you join the Indian media? They'll pay you well. In fact you could become a multimillionaire in no time at all!! :cheesy:

actually it is reverse.power of Maoists is in decline as they are loosing their battle.already they have negligible presence in several states which were a stronghold in the past.in addition,several states like Orissa,Bihar etc are now raising special forces to deal with them.several top maoists are either killed or in jail as well as many already surrendered.plus,their caders are furious against their leader for maltreatment and corruption.a joint operation between several states will clear them off..thats why they are using dirty tactics to fight police.recent event of planting mines in the body of dead police shows how desperate they are...

India is not a safe country. All sensible people should avoid visiting that hell hole country. Bhagwan knows when a bomb blast will happen or ten guys in a boat will mysteriously appear and go on a shooting spree. Radical Islamic terrorists, Hindu terrorists (well according to "ELECTED" Indian politicians, they exist:cheesy:), then you have ethnic and religious riots, it's all happening in Bhooka, Nunga, Lootistan.

Meanwhile, your "elected" leaders are sleeping easy, filling up their bank accounts, while India is going to hell, well, it's 3/4 of the way there already!

JAI HO GANDUSTAN!!!
