I don't know milad un nabi is celebrated at such a grand scale in Pakistan....in India we have a holiday tomorrow...we didn't use to have a holiday for this when I was a child..I think this is a recent phenomenon in India(but its not such a grand occasion in India like in Pakistan though)...majority of Indian Muslims stay out of celebrating this...anyway I am happy I have a holiday and happy milad un nabi to everyone who celebrates it..
P.S: we have another holiday on 23rd...guru Nanak jayanti..what a coincidence

Mubarak to the Ummah of RasoolAllah (saws) on this blessed month and this blessed day.

Please try in your gatherings and personal time to spend as much time as possible discussing the seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It is a tradition we must revive.

To those brothers participating in the remembrance of the Holy Prophet (pbuh), please try to focus your remembrance in ways which will attain maximum reward in this dunya and the hereafter.

To those not participating, please don't try to derail this thread with the annual beef. Milad is not fard, it is nafl. You are free not to participate, but anyone who wants to question why people perform nafl acts to praise Allah and remember the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) should really question themselves first about what they are saying and why.

Salamu Alaikum

I have a few questions for people who celebrate the Mawlid (please don't become hostile or take them the wrong way, I'm genuinely curious):

1. Why do you celebrate it if none of the Salaf (i.e the first three generations of Muslims, which a hadith in Sahih Bukhari says are the best of Muslims) did?

2. Why do people call it an Eid when a hadith in Sahih Bukhari says that Muslims only have two Eids?

Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi celebrations will be held across the nation between November 20 and November 21. Although the official government holiday is scheduled for November 21, celebrations are expected to begin from a day earlier in parts of the nation such as Mangaluru. Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi is celebrated every year as Prophet Muhammed’s birth anniversary, the day usually starts with a morning prayer by most Muslim families. The day is celebrated by Muslims across all countries with significant Muslim population, such as India, UK, Germany, Nigeria.

Please do not insult ushaq e rasool(SAW) by calling us! A person who truly sense ishq for Prophet Muhammed(P.B.U.H) hears from the hearing of Allah(SWAT), sees from the sight of Allah(SWAT) and acts from the actions of Allah(SWAT) which means that such people truly follow amr bil maroof wa nhi anil munkir.
A very warm Eid Mubarak to you too.May Allah(SWAT) grant you success in this life and hereafter and also grants khair to every believing soul(Ameen).May Allah(SWAT) the most high and majestic rise our beloved Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H) to the degree of Mehmoud and grant him whatever he looks at, thinks at, wished for, asked for.May Allah(SWAT) grants him from his infinite treasures and each treasure becomes so joyous and fulfilling for him that our prophet Muhammed(SAW) considers it enough, yet it turned out to be speck of pleasures from His majesty's eternal treasures.May Allah synthesize what Prophet Muhammed(P.B.U.H) would have never or ever wished for and may Prophet Muhammed(P.B.U.H) wishes so whatever Allah wants to grant him so that our Prophet's prayer become accepted (Ameen)

Regards

1. We do so because we choose to honour the Prophet Muhahmmad (pbuh) in this manner. The sahaba and the salaf honoured the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in ways which we cannot. They would use his saliva as medicine, they would use the water he performed wudu with to cure themselves and would scramble to get a few droplets of it. Those opportunities were not for us. We can still honour the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in other halal methods.

2. The word Eid means festival, it is not exclusive to only those two days. Friday is also considered a day of Eid. We do not consider this day the same as the two days of Eid decreed for us.
