Egypt purchased 42 " Kamov Ka-52 " Katran Naval attack helicopters to work on the Mistral helicopters carriers in Egypt.. And 52 " Kamov Ka-52 "Alligator ground attack version..a total of 94 heavy all weather attack helicopters..

General specifications of the helicopter and features:

The helicopter can hit ground targets (armored / non-armored), low-speed aerial targets (UAVs) and individuals on the front lines of tactical combat depth, and is an airborne surveillance and command platform for a range of friendly attack helicopters.

The helicopter has a unique rotor design, with no tail rotor, while it has two high-powered two-rotor actuators known as the Coaxial Rotors, which give the helicopter maximum maneuverability, stability, balance and rotation around its axis, (Unlike tail rotor helicopters that take some of this energy) as well as noise reduction (the noise is generated due to the interaction of air currents originating from the main rotor with the tail rotor).

The Alligator shares 85% of the same design and components with the oldest single seat Ka-50 Black Shark, and the remaining 15% includes the longer body and the larger nose for two seats rather than one seat. It features a 12.7mm anti-tank gun and 23mm rounds of exploding bullets.

Electronic systems and monitoring/tracking:

Radar:

The current version is the Phazotron-NIIR Arbalet FH-01-52

A future sophisticated version called the Arbalet-L will be installed on the helicopters, which will serve as a command and control center for the rest of the attack helicopters and will be more robust and accurate, and with longer range.

There is another radar more specialized in detecting, tracking and hitting marine and ground targets. It will be derived from the Mig-35 fighter radar, known as Zhuk-A. With this AESA radar it will have a detection range of up to 130 km with tracking of 30 targets and engagement with 6 targets at the same time as well as the ability to detect air targets up to a distance of 45 km it will be put on the top of the helicopter over the Rotors..

The counter-rotating blades cancel the torque and thus eliminate the need for the tail rotor. Tail rotor is a vulnerability.

And it has ejection seats. Besides the obvious humanitarian reason, any pilot (and two in this case) is very valuable with his training etc. So putting an emphasis on surviveability is a great feature the Russians have adapted to these helicopters of their. This is one of the areas where they're ahead of everyone else in.

And with these Katrans taking off of the 2 Egyptian Mistrals, they'll need a SAR & Recovery helo as well.
The ejection system will be tricky and also very dangerous in this case. If it happens during take-off or landing and it's in proximity of the deck, the top rotor will blast off followed by the lower rotor then the glass canopy top explodes and then the pilots eject with their seats. So where do all those 8 rotors, linkage assembly, glass and shrapnel go? Scary.

The cockpit looks like that of an Su-30 but in a helo. The Russians even took into consideration the pilot's hand comfort. When they mounted the handle on the control stick, they turned it a few degrees so that it would be in line and comfortable in the pilot's right hand and make it smoother and less straining on the wrist to work the stick and operate the control buttons and other functions. Perfect ergonomics.

It is an amazing machine. Russians are no doubt ahead of rest of the world in ejection seat technology which is totally mechanical and fail safe. However, this can be tricky in a chopper. But full marks to them for implementing it in helo and I guess it is the one and only chopper that has this feature.

Su-34 has even a proper toilet which is amazing considering the spatial and weight constraints on a strike airplane.

We had this interesting debate on another forum many years ago regarding the toilet or no toilet in the Su-34. 8 years ago it was debunked since there was no proof of a toilet, but has there been something recent, like a photo or any source that shows in fact there a toilet?

Considering its role entails super long travelling distances, it would make sense to have not only a toilet but a microwave oven and a cot for the pilots to take turns sleeping. :-)

Without a toilet, they would need diapers looool.

Pakistan army is smart.. it won't go for the latest Russian tech not even well introduced in Russia.. it knows that it goes step by step with the Russians..just remember that this was the first military deal between Russia and Pakistan after Afghanistan war.. if we do not take the J-17 engines into account, since they are not military systems but sub-systems..

But Pakistan has been buying Mi17 helis from Russia, so it can't be the 1st military deal

These are transport helicopters.. we are talking about offensive weapons..notice that I have talked about the JF-17 engines too..and they do not count as offensive weapons..
