The "China Times" highlighted Egypt's war against terrorism in North Sinai, in particular the terrorist attack on the worshippers at the Martyrs' Garden, where 15 terrorist bombers were killed by an unmanned aerial vehicle. The newspaper said that although the Egyptian side did not disclose the type of drones used during the process or details of the implementation of the task, but it is expected that Egypt has been using the drone Wing Loong1 or CH-5.

The newspaper added that the Egyptian Air Force has three different models of remote-controlled aircraft as follows:
1 - ASN-209, which was obtained by Egypt with a joint manufacturing license
2 - Wing Loong1 obtained by Egypt in 2015
3 - unmanned aircraft CH-5.

The CH-5 made its first flight test on July 14 this year and also carried out an operational test to hit the targets with precision at the end of September. The newspaper said that Egypt is the first customer for these drones and considered it interesting.

The aircraft has the capability to detect targets from 20 to 80 km and there is a satellite antenna at the front of the aircraft to provide live monitoring and reconnaissance. The CH-5 has a load of up to 1 ton, capable of carrying 16 missiles on its wings, and a high survival period of up to 40 hours (or a future version equipped with an external fuel tank that will make a 100- to 120-hour stay), and a maximum speed of 400 km / h.

Let us be thankful that they have realised that the best place for their pilots to be is on the ground.

This just makes it cheaper than fighter aircrafts.. Egypt was using the F-16s for that role.. you know how expensive is that for such operations..

They have actually significantly upgraded the quality of their pilots after the last Israel-Egyptian war.
Even in 1973 war.. Egyptian pilots defeated Usraeli pilots who had a generation more advanced fighters.. Egyptians fought with Mig-21s against F-4 phantoms, Mirages and Hawks.. combined with air defenses they have downed more than 260 Usraeli fighters..So of course they are much better trained now with much more sophisticates fighters..

Oh the IRONY! lol.

I'm going to leave it at that out of the respect I have for the IAF and guys like @Lord Of Gondor and @randomradio and other Indian members who have a bit more of a clue than that. But man, is that the kettle calling the pot black! :-)

Have you seen any of the verminial cretin crushing (aka scuzz bucket terrorists eradication) cam footage by the Egyptian air force along the Libyan border and in Sinai using the WingLoong? It's fantastic.

They're building a whole new state of the art air base in western Egypt where they'll fly them out of. They are very happy with it.

No yet. Any chance to post the link?

Yes, of course, but they won't divulge exactly which are F-16s or Apaches or WingLoongs. They're mixing a lot of the footage but you can tell the high altitude pan views and probably the colored imaging are WingLoongs. You can also distinguish a little between the type of missiles as the GBUs are coming in really hot, while the Hellfires and possibly BA-7 air-to-ground missile, YZ-212 laser-guided bomb, YZ-102A anti-personnel bomb and 50-kilogram LS-6 guided bombs are coming in a bit slower and the seekers are really working. Some great stuff.

Cretin crushing! :-)

That was a bad-tempered jibe. Please forget it; not worthy of your attention.

What has happened is a very important step, in popularising pilot-less aircraft. It is obvious that we are in the World War I stage of pilot-less air warfare, and are likely to proceed forward in leaps and bounds.

CH-5, even India does not have such (equivalent)

Sir, do not labour the point. Every human being has a peevish moment, a moment of inattention and of hurt and frustration and self-pity. If you like, I will go back and delete that damn' post.

The funny part that it's being said by an Indian Lol , man go fix your grounded fleet first at least we got something to fly with

Oh, so do we; our quadri-copters are in fine shape! Two or three get potted by sporting types among the Pakistani Rangers every day, I imagine. :D
