Mohamed Morsi, Egypt's president, has announced that Egypt is cutting off diplomatic relations with Syria and has ordered that Damascus Embassy in Cairo to be closed.

Morsi told thousands of supporters in a rally held on Saturday that his government is also withdrawing the Egyptian charge d'affaires from Damascus.

Morsi also called on Lebanon's Hezbollah armed group to leave Syria, where the group has been fighting alongside troops loyal to embattled President Bashar al-Assad against the rebel forces.

"We stand against Hezbollah in its aggression against the Syrian people," Morsi said. "Hezbollah must leave Syria - these are serious words. There is no space or place for Hezbollah in Syria."

The Egyptian president also called on the international community to implement a no-fly zone over Syria, where the UN says that more tha 93,000 people have been killed since a popular uprising escalated into civil war more than two years ago.

Really? It came too little too late, despite the fact that the Egypt had gone through a revolution, though.

Egyptian clerics have decided to form, finance and arm battalions as part of FSA and those clerics were with Mursi in this gathering. I hope Egypt puts it's weight now in favor of Syrians.

dont trust the MB , they are two faced- b-astards , I hope morsi falls after June 30 .

Our war now with Iran and it's sellouts. We all get to concentrate on that.

You are right , but remember Morsi was trying to forge his own relations with Iran .

Just be careful of the MB , they back-stabbed everyone who supported them in Egypt .

kolna 3ala welad el mut3a ma feeha kalam .

I don't care, all I understand is they are supporting FSA. All I want is a Iran & sellouts-free Syria.

A good step in the right direction. Another crucial Sunni Arab state on the side of us Arabs and Sunnis.

The MB is irrelevant in this matter as long as they are helpful in toppling the Child-Murderer in Damascus.

Yeah, Morsi said one thing in Moscow and another thing here now. But, @BLACKEAGLE raised a very valid point, Morsi might have been pressured to change his stand on Syria.

It's a worldwide conflict no longer a Sunni-related issue.

Soon will be. Yeah Safwat Hejazi :D hah mate?

 which angered a few group of people. Wait, maybe the Salafists can bring some change as well.

little late. i think your country also cut rel. with Syrian Gov until 2014.

Mind giving it a rundown? Please?

Morsi? you mean Qatar made him do that , sadly Egypt lives under the mercy of Qatar, since Qatar poured a lot of money into Egypt, thus Egypt was bought by Qatareal... its funny, that he suspended an Arab embassy, while the Israeli embassy is still open... nothing but bunch of slaves and traitors...

Egyptian military and nation are against having any links with Iran , after all they are two totally different nation , different religion, ethnicity and language , nothing much an isolated iran could offer to egypt except headache and terrorism .
