Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra have underlined strong deeply-rooted cooperation ties between Egypt and Algeria in different domains.

The ministers' remarks came at a press conference held on Saturday following their talks in Cairo, where Lamamra is on his first visit to Egypt.

They also underscored good coordination between the two countries on issues of common interest.
Shoukry said the talks touched upon means to cement ties and a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Both sides agreed on continuing consultations to help bring peace and stability in the Arab and African regions.

Lamamra said he conveys a message from Algeria's President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on strengthening cooperation between both countries in different domains.

The message also focuses on need to enhance historic ties between Egypt and Algeria, Lamamra reiterated, lauding Cairo's ongoing support for Algiers.

On his visit to Ethiopia and Sudan and the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Lamamra said the dam crisis is at a critical stage, noting that Algeria thinks it would be better to reach an agreement satisfactory to Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to serve and protect the rights of their peoples.

He pointed out that Algeria is keen on taking part in settling this crisis and other issues in the region.

Algeria is a major headache in MENA region and Egypt is doing everything it can to bring them back into the alliance.. It has succeeded in ethablishing good ties with Algeria but the chellenge now facing Egypt is how to thaw the relations between Algeria and Morocco. Imo the Algerians are difficult to deal with and they are very dramatic Plus stubborn but can be good allies but you just can't let a sulking Algeria in the middle of the park that always seems to be in bad mood and generally Algeria has a bad case of mood swings this will be long term Egyptian security issues and the only way to solving this is to solve the Morocco and Algeria issues and re-integrate Algeria into the Alliance and give them a power of seat and word inside the allaince.. Egypt can't afford to lose Algeria so it is critical to them bringing Algeria back into it's alliance..

Algeria hates anyone who has relations with Morocco like the pest.. Egypt is doing everything it can to not appearing bias towards one side but equally friends with both. If you fix this issue Algeria is your friend.. Example notice what happened to Turkey recently they were friendly with the Turks with multiple state visits here and there plus exchange of positive greetings until rumors came out that Turkey sold drones to Morocco the entire local news narrative changed to anti-turkish over-night and the swift was suddenly quick

That is childish..There were no Moroccans or other Arabs on Arab Media criticizing Russia for selling the SU-57 to Algeria.. and this is a big item ..not just drones..

Egypt and Algeria do not have conflicts between them.. they have good relationships.. that is why Ethiopia seeks Algeria's help in the GERD crisis.. not only that ..Algeria is a member of the African Union and the Arab league..And as far as Morocco-Algeria relationship goes..they have a lot of rivalries and some deep political ideology differences..but it is not so bad that it might provoke war.. it is just some annoying rivalries ..Algeria belong to the Eastern block and Morocco to the Western one.. so as above (US vs Russia) as below (Morocco vs Algeria)..

I know Algeria is in the eastern block but Egypt and the rest in the region doesn't want Algeria in the eastern block and would rather have them join their block or atleast their alliance they can remain in the eastern block if they want but join their own MENA alliance is key

Egypt is neutral between the Eastern and the Western block.. that is why they have a good relationship with Algeria..But mind you there are good relationships between the UAE, KSA and most other Arab countries with Algeria..

Maybe they are trying to save Algeria from what has happened to other Socialist Arab countries like Iraq, Syria, Libya and Yemen..!?

I agree with you in that neither is the Algerian-Moroccan relations as bad as it seems outisde of the war of words but that has to eventually stop it serves no purpose. The others like UAE, KSA, GCC are neither in the west or east block but neutral. Getting Algeria to the alliance side and neutral is the key here. Algerian relations with all these states is not bad but getting them as main-stay all sworn ally with these countries and aligned political outlook is key which is what Egypt is working on to fix their relations beyond just good relations

That will be great as all of the MENA countries can open theirs borders to each other commercially and create a powerful market (EU as example).. imagine a market covering the countries from Morocco to Iraq.. Algeria seems the only country to stand against it..too bad.. no one can or will understand its position..

Egypt is the most diplomatically capable to turn Algeria into a believer in this concept. It is a good initiative

"Algeria is a major headache in MENA region" : By insulting Algeria, a country you know nothing about, You are the headache in this forum. And go ahead asking whatever connections you have in this forum to get me banned.

Hopefully it can.. it will be for the good of the whole region..

Arab regimes, particularly the GCC monarchies, have a racist attitude toward non-Arabs, for example toward Turkey and Iran. Algeria has a non-Arab constituency, the reason why Arab regimes have always been trying to destabilize Algeria, but with no luck.

"Egypt is the most diplomatically capable" ?? Are you kidding me. Egypt is ruled by an Army officer Sisi who mounted a coup against a democratically elected president. Algeria is going thru the motion to help Ethiopia, and has no interest in helping Egypt or any other Arab regime.

"MENA countries can open theirs borders to each other commercially" : Algeria's diplomatic ties have been severed indefinitely and the border closed since 1994, will not be re-opened anytime soon. Morocco exports illegally more than 1000 tons of Hashish per year toward Europe, and tries to do the same though the Morocco-Algeria border. A huge wall between the two countries is in the process of being built by the Algerian Army.

You two are talking about Algeria as if you were some experts,, yet your simplistic and biased views tell me that you know nothing about Algeria and the North African region. Algeria never did and never will take any advice from the GCC monarchies. Algeria is the sole economic and military leader in North Africa, while it has never shown interest to the Mid-East Arab world despite the fact that it has membership in the Arab league. Currently all the GCC regimes are almost begging Algeria to restore its diplomatic ties with Morocco, with no success.
