At least 40 persons including six cops were injured in clashes that erupted at numerous places across the valley on Thursday. Curfew remained clamped in several areas as the valley witnessed another spontaneous shutdown against the killing of a Baramulla youth. (Source)
Kashmir has not been stable since the unlawful hanging of Afzal Guru on 9th of February, it had remained under complete siege for more than 10 days with a complete halt in work and businesses, and restriction on entering the markets even for bare necessities such as food or medicine; for so many days the streets and hearts of the Kashmiri people had stumbled in the dark of fear, hunger and hopelessness.
But the siege never really ended, off and on curfew has been restored at different places; the Kashmiris who want to protest against all kinds of suffering inflicted upon them, and against the arrest, persecution and killing of their loved ones, and against the seizure of the remains of their martyrs, were not allowed to; they were repulsed.
Every day from that day on, has been a day of protests, clashes, injuries and arrests; every day the Vale of Kashmir sees a battle between batons, bullets, bombs on one side and bare human flesh on the other side, upon its blemished chest. With more clashes are more deaths and with more deaths are more protests and the vicious cycle of *ruthless tyranny goes on day and night while the richer, more civilized world celebrates its prosperity and serenity, with deliberate oblivion to the cries of humanity in a close part of the global village.
The Kashmiris were protesting against the mysterious death of Muddasir Ahmad Mallah, who was allegedly tortured to death under custody, on the 2cd of Feb., when in the ongoing protests the Indian Army shot down another youth, Tahir Sofi, on the 4th.* Curfew has been restored in most parts of Kashmir, but continuous protests does not give a scene of death silence this time; it is showing the scene of pitch battle.
It is being reported that youth in the hundreds have been taking out to the streets in different areas all over Kashmir and the Indians have used all means including barbed wires, tear smoke shells, pepper gas bombs and firing squads to repel or disperse the raging youth, who are with nothing but stones in their hands. Reports say that the CRPF personnel have attacked civilian homes, automobiles and even the Kashmir University, smashing window panes and beating and abusing whoever they find. Many have been taken into arrest and many have been injured by bullets, batons and injurious gases.
This is the Kashmir for which India says it is its own, this is the Kashmir that the Pakistanis are being asked to forsake, this is the Kashmir whose file in lying dormant in the trash-cans of the United Nations. Is this the way humanity should answer the unlawful slaughter of its own kind? Will the whole humanity never come to the rescue of the Kashmiris? Will the Pakistani also not answer their brethren then? OR is India digging a grave for itself by heightening it atrocities? Is India already inciting resistance and turning it into violent one by taking such measures? India calls it Terrorism; perhaps the Kashmiris will define it as a Jehad against India.
What course of action does the world suggest for the suppressed ones? We ask the World!
