Islam was a earlier socialist movement so if we use the word "Theocratic" in context of Islam, it need not necessarily mean regressive.
That is mitigating Islam’s place in history. I don’t agree with that. Islam was the catalyst for the modern world, not only that, but it laid the foundation of equality of mankind and a new way at looking at the world.
Allama Iqbal said of socialist leaders like Marx, that they are prophets without books.
وہ کلیم بے تجلی وہ مسیح بے صلیب
نیست پیغمبر و لیکن در یغل دارد کتاب
He a Moses without divine manifestation; he a Christ without a Cross? And though not a Prophet or Messenger of God but has got a Book in his bossom.
He also refers to Socialism as Neo-Mazdakism.
It is sad that Jinnah and Nehru, both progressives, both wanted to become the PM of Free India and their egos led to the Partition. But this is a subject for another day.
This is controversial and belittles the sacrifices of our ancestors. The whole Kashmir episode proves it would have been a disaster. Better to leave it for another thread.
Hope everything is going well for you brother.
