Featured DRDO has successfully flight-tested Supersonic Missile assisted release of Torpedo (SMART)

Dont worry about our subs... Hangoor is great example for indians to learn... 3 days exransive search and it still managed to stay hidden...
That was in the 1970s.

Indians are inducting P8I in large numbers in the present - these offer considerable ASW capability and capacity to Indian Navy by extension. Indian Navy can also receive cues from the USN for the needful (QUAD).

Alarming dynamic TBH.

Theoretically..If a Pakistani Agosta submarine armed with 450 Km Babur 3 SLCM can be intercepted and destroyed 650 km from its target.

Then it would never get to launch it's missile, and Pakistan's only second strike nuclear deterant gets neutralized.
But question is how will india detect the subs ? P8i has detection range of around 350km that too surface search... underwater detection is even smaller...

Other than that indian underwater Sonar system in IRO is also still in development...

So still the question remains how will india detects the Subs ?

.
bhai jaan it could pose threat to our submarine which will carry Submarine Launched Cruise Missile which as of now have limited range ....
It will pose a slight threat but not a direct threat... subs are easily detected when on surface but if there is no P8i in 350km range the tracking will be impossible...

P8i provides a lot of potential but still its limited to around 350 kms of detection...

And China is one thing and Pakistan is other...

And if Hangoor is old as it was in 1971 what will you say on SAAD in 2019 ?

Like..how every submarine is detected and tracked, especially the diesel ones... either when they come up for snorkel or by laying a trap around its intended target.

Once you know the approximate position of where a sub might be ..you form search grids and do a sector search to pin point the exact location.

P8 I ..MH60R..Sea king helicopters using Sonbouys and Magnetic annomaly detectors and these search grids can be hundreds of nautical miles wide for ASW aircrafts.

.
It's not initiating the command to fire, it can simply relay the coordinates to the fire team and even relay updated coordinates to the missile will in flight.
Thats what I mean india still lacks a TDL if I am not wrong and Bharat Electronics is developing one so how ?

It took india 21 days to track PNS Saad in 2019 and by the time they found it.. it was in western waters of Pakistan so how effective is it ?...

Take a good look at the following graphic:

There are different methods to detect submarines while submerged:

1. Multi-mode radar
2. Sonobuoys
3. MAD

You are alluding to ASW range of OPTION # 1 but overlooking other sensor systems in your calculus - ASW range and capacity is DYNAMIC and shaped by employment tactics for the needful.

How Sonobuoys work?

Just one P8I can deploy over 100 Sonobuoys for the needful.

NUMBERS GAME

Indian Navy P8I fleet strength in the present = 8

They are receiving 4 more in this year.

Multiple aircraft = ASW mission made possible on a much wider scale and capacity with exchange of information in the mix.

USN Factor

Should Indian Navy feel that its ASW missions are being constrained by Pakistan Navy through relevant countermeasures and tactics, Indian Navy can reach out to USN to facilitate its ASW missions (COMCASA). Imagine this.
