Has TVC vanes........ . VLSRSAM is being developed for Indian Navy and has a range of 40km.
:chilli::chilli::victory::victory:
I think we have now achieved self-sufficiency in surface to air missiles with a family of SAMs comprising of:

Akash-NG :

QRSAM :

I think Pakistan will back itself to get through these 'Indian' made defences

Our planning needs to be good and we to keep a couple of tricks up our sleeves

Our nation's fixated on shouting about Indian failure tests without seeing how failures are a natural and necessary part of the R&D process.

Basically, we joke about the "samosa" Tejas but have nothing to say about India's ability to develop a flight control system (FCS), composite materials, electronics, and munitions such as SAMs.

It's a shame because our engineers are certainly capable of holding their own against anyone else in the world. But our leadership and national culture doesn't value slow and gradual gains, they'd rather see the flashy mall filled with Chinese goods.

Maybe it's not that complicated, pakistan's R&D is about 1/5 of India and India is about 1/9 of china.
Money talks.

Interesting that DRDO ditched the Sa-6 skeleton of the Akash to more reliable and modern systems.

The Indian ADGE will indeed be fearsome in a few years.

So India will start a new program after ditching a fcked up program and then will ditch this one and start another one? Its a perpetual money cycle. Lol

How many programs were ditched by the United states before they achieved high PK sams?
How about China?
Eventually, the failures will pay off in success so long as bureaucratic, nepotistic or shortcut attempts are not taken.

VL-SRSAM is basically an elongated Astra mk1 with TVC vanes. It will not require a lot of testing as it's already a proven design.

Pretty crazy to think how far we've come since Akash 1. Hoping the same for LCA Tejas MK2 and AMCA.
It took us 20 years to develop Akash 1, 16 years to develop Astra mk1, 3 years to develop QRSAM, and 1.5 years to develop VL-SRSAM. It shows that we have reached a level of maturity when it comes to surface-to-air missiles.

Akash 1 has an air-breathing ramjet engine which makes it bulky. Current ones have solid rocket motors.

Those days are long gone. DRDO has been revamped completely by the current government.
