Business as usual with the Dow. Iranian missile attack seen as nothing to worry about.

. .
Because your president proved that he had no balls and tried to de-escalate the situation. Oil prices reduced by 4% after Trump's speech.

What? Blow up some buildings in Iran and kill a bunch of nobodys who are just doing their job? Can you name a fair attack site? We could sink their Navy maybe.

What part of VERY HARD and VERY FAST (in caps lock as it is usual for Trump) in response to any "threat" from Iran did you miss in his tweet after assassinating Soleimani?

Your president went as far as threatening Iran's cultural sites against all international laws in response to any threat from Iran. If you talk loud, your actions must be loud too. But what happened is that your president backed off and proved to the world that he's a fool who chickens out when he needs to make bold moves.

Stock Market Shrugs Off Iran Missile Attack
Stocks took an initial dive last night when Iran launched at least a dozen ballistic missiles at US military bases in northern Iraq. But the equity markets paired most of the losses as full details emerged overnight.

Analysts appear to view the missile attack as a sign of de-escalation of tensions since there are no reported casualties. Indeed, this was probably the plan. As CNN put it:

Iran’s missile strikes against bases in Iraq housing US troops was not a response designed to kill the most Americans possible. Iran will have known that in the early hours of the morning, US troops are normally asleep and the chances of inflicting casualties are lower.

Former US ambassador to Oman, Richard Schmierer, agreed, claiming the Iran attack was a chance for detente.

This might be the opportunity — in the absence of casualties — for the two sides to now say: ‘okay we have each done something, we can stand down.

Iran has played it cards right with due political shrewdness. The preceding events following the drone strike have all been in favor of Iran. It remains to be seen how much leverage Iran gets now with negotiations.
