Everytime I go through youtube comments on some Hindi songs, I cannot help noticing a considerable amount of comments from foreigners(actually more pakistanis are commenting than indians ever since the ban is lifted).
We can see comments from Mexico,Arabs, Algerians, kazaks and Tajiks. I strongly believe bollywood is going to play a major role in influencing the world with indian culture in future.

With increasing development of india in various sectors, the influence of india spills out to various parts of the world. However much we hate bollywood for making some sub standard movies ,what we must not ignore is it is creating a great impact in many countries and I am sure it will only increase.

We have dance and songs in our movies which can attract people of every race..china doesn't have a such strong source of entertainment that can take its culture to foreign countries..Hollywood doesn't have dance and songs.
Do you agree with me guys that we are fortunate to have bollywood which can act as a powerful tool to influence the world?

Bajrangi Bhaijaan has been a huge Hit in Indonesia, Malayasia and Arab world . Most of the top comments in youtube are from there .

Aashiqui two is also a big hit in arab world and 3 idiots in China so yes bollywood helps in soft power .

From my personal experience I knew many Malaysians here in NY that were quite fond of Bollywood. And I do mean ethnic Malays. Nigeria though seems to have a lot of love for Bollywood as well. The latter is particularly interesting due to a lack of an Indian community there.

You can't single out Bollywood, south Indian movies are huge hits in SE Asia ... Thalaiva has a huge fan following in Japan. We shouldn't club everything under one banner especially when bollywood is churning out remake of South Indian hits.

Lets not forget Rajinikanth in Japan :D

But I guess thats not bollywood hehe.

Also quite popular in Eastern Europe/Russia even with few Indians there. One Bulgarian member in this forum is a fan of an Indian police TV series....and a Pakistani guy called him a false flagger because of it.

But everything that Bulgarian said checked out (they do actually air it there etc).

Bollywood is now almost like Punjabi films. Songs are all Punjabi. Let's hope the old Hindustani/Urdu speaking Bollywood will return back.

Definitely does I think, most bollywood videos have many comments from middle east and central asian countries these days, even south america. Indonesia and Malaysia have huge amount of love for the Khans.

Anyone seen the huge number of "reaction videos" on youtube by foreigners? They are crowding my recommended videos.

As far as business revenue in Tamil movies goes, there has definitely been an increase, mostly due to the increase in Indians/Indian origin ppl living outside. Previously rights would be sold as one piece - "foreign rights", now each area has it's own price and makes for a decent chunk of the revenue. (10%-15%) I think for bollywood it goes to as much as 20-30%

Bollywood has a good impact in Middle East and Africa. Not sure about SEA.
maybe a little bit, though I personally find the song and dance stuff quite embarrassing. :P
Actually Indian movie industry is famous for that mostly :p:
