Doctors Situation during Corona

My wife is Medical doctor and working in a reputable hospital (Quaid E Azam international hospital ) in Islamabad.

Alof of staff and doctors got positive, and my wife also got suspected. and one of their head nurse died due to Covid+ last week , as Out door patients are open there.

We payed 6000 Rs from our pocket to get it tested and its negative Alhamdullillah. Now hospital is saying please test it again (twice ) from our own pocket and come back to job.
( they said its 20% discounted , however its same price as excel lab or any private lab)

Even though Alhamdullillah we dont care about the money spent on our health and Alhamdullilah we can afford it easily, however there this is wrong ethics by Hospital.

As i worked in multinational company & worked abroad , i find it very unusual and insulting that hospital dont care about their employees, they got covid+ due to working for the hospital.

How Can Pakistani be so cruel !


PS: this is same hospital which charges 60,000 per day from patients only for isolation of Room ...... doctors charges / medicine charges / oxygen charges are seperate

Thats really sad and pathetic

I work in a private organization (one of the top retail fashion brand of Pakistan) owned by individuals but management is of truly professional people. Our CEO, COO and me myslef (CFO) are professional unrelated to owners, and hence decided to give paid leave to all the suspected corona employees (even daily wages workers) and will bear the cost of tests of all suspected employees (even if they are negative). Furthermore, we paid for the salaries of daily wages workers even during lock down which was not a liability even as per contractual terms.

Its all different from organization to organization.

If she is not a PG trainee tell her to move to a better facility. I am not surprised at this attitude from QAIH as like most of the hospitals it too works on the principle of money with ethics. But in QAIH, sadly these interests don't even run parallel. QAIH is well connected so it would be futile to engage them.

Generally, Pakistan has 1980s era principals on the prevention of transmission of infections via contact, droplet or aerosol methods.... and trust me I am being optimistic here. our primary and secondary prevention is either funded by GAVI, multinational donors or needs to be funded out of pocket. unfortunately, OSHA, medical and principals of maleficence do not apply to us.
Non-existent policies and checks and balances allow most medics to hone in their skills and knowledge, polish their surgical and hit-and-trial skills before they either move abroad or start their own practice. All this but comes at a price that is being paid now. Corona has just laid bare the attitudes of the general public and the standard of medical policies and the facilities available across pakistan.

What can you do. There's no checks and balances or an authority in Pakistan and law of the jungle.

Do whatever you want. Here in KPK, hospitals are rejecting patients. What can we do? Go to the government or police? Lol.

Pakistan ke hospital owners bemaaron ka khoon choos ke paise kamaate hain. In the literal sense. I wouldn't be angry if doctors went on leave. Becharay apni madad aap ke tehet kaam kar rahay hain.
