Still think that the indiscriminate live firing, killings and detention that is happening in "Roshan" Pakistan is the Pakistan that Jinnah had envisioned Sedqal? You had always insisted on PMLN being a manifestation of that vision.

Would love to hear your thoughts on that.

My views about it will come as a bit shocking but I do support govt on that (not just PMLN, I supported PPP for a breakdown on Qadri too). Khakis have too much power until and unless a strict message goes, these touts of khakis will keep on coming and creating an atmosphere where govts won't be able to operate - example Qadri's one week circus ended up costing Pakistan billions at the end all of which got blamed on PPP govt. Same is true today all the financial backlash will be squarely blamed on PMLN as its in govt. Compare that with a Khaki govt which operates for 5 or 6 years without ANY disturbance. If democratic forces want a fighting chance these touts will have to be dealt with - this is not limited to PMLN its true for every democratic force.

Jinnah's Pakistan will be a democratic Pakistan where constitution reigns supreme. TuQ (and now IK) are necessarily undemocratic forces whose sole aim is to disturb democracy, I don't see any democratic way of dealing with them. Its pretty clear TuQ wants to derail the system how should govt comply? When IK's every demand was met he started on PM's resignation knowing full well that it means a severe political loss for PMLN (making it impossible). There only aim is to bring a govt down to its knees which will mean either another Martial law or an elected govt subservient to khakis (who have a track record of strategic/ foreign policy failures whose continuation we know will bring but more misery for Pakistan).

TuQ's case has many other important aspects, what Lal mosque did pales in comparison to what Tuq is doing - we are attacking Waziristan with hundreds of thousands of IDPs because of writ of state yet allow a lunatic like TuQ to challenge the same writ right in the heart of capital. His goons attacked and broke down a wall of parliament then occupied the state television - just think for a second what the reaction would have been if this was Taliban. These double standards will come back to haunt us. Other then that TuQ represents a specific sect, he has no following outside of his mureeds and the kind of stature media is building of this lunatic you will have dozens upon dozens of other mullahs making rounds of capital with their zombie forces (TuQ's main strength comes from his madrassa and schools - others will use the same). More power to Mullahs is something every sane Pakistani should fear. Here is something to think about, this picture is making rounds on most Pakistani forums >

a Big NO
democracy & civilian supremacy is the only way forward. The reason for the country's problems we see today, is because of the continuous unconstitutional interventions, which in fact had a catastrophic effect on the evolution process of institution's which resulted in the stagnation of their growth , & is the very reason for the problems in the first place

Nothing wrong with 3 month Marshal Law

I thanked you for your honesty--at least you are more upfront then the two thug mobocracy leaders who publicly denounce Martial Law but not-so-privately want one. Hypocrites.

If marshal law bring peace , revival of economy and respect the right and freedom of speech of common people ....don't mind..

This type of democracy is not feasible for Pakistani culture , where literacy rate is lest then 30% and majority lives under feudal lords. Only and partly Presidential form of govt and 4 year time period might be good for Pakistani people.
