Do Iranians take pride in their history of being part of various Caliphate?

Just a general question to the members, regarding how Irans history during the Islamic golden age is perceived by ordinary Iranians.

Iran was part of the Rashidun and Umayyad Caliphs.

Also If Iranians Identify with Arab and Turkish history to some extent.

Most pakistanis and religous muslims would call an X scientist's invention from that time as an "Islamic invention." On the other hand Iranians always say X Iranian scientist from X period invented this, or X poet/philosopher from the X century said that. Unlike the rest of the countries in the region, nobody calls it the "islamic golden age."

For us, it's just another part of our history. What I'm trying to say is that the whole "ummah" concept isn't even understood by the avg Iranian on the street. Most people wouldn't even have any idea wtf you're talking about.

It was just an unfortunate period where our scientists/poets/philosophers etc... had to work within the confines of a foreign authority. Of course that changed very quickly and Iran regained independence.

Edit: what do you mean by the last part? Why would an Iranian identify with an arab or a turk's history? In popular literature, for the past 1000 years, arabs have been described as barbarians and the invasion as Iran's darkest day in history. This was the narrative a thousand years ago when Ferdosi wrote the shahname and it's still the same story today. Most Iranian scholars, poets, authors, scientists and elites share the belief that arabs are our biggest enemies. Of course the Iranian regime portrays a different picture due to their religous and extremist islamic nature. The Iranian regime grew out of the "fadayine eslam" movement that was a proxy of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood in Iran. The MB created this group decades before the Iranian revolution. The avg Iranian identifies himself Iranian first and sees Iran at the center of every equation.

You didn't wipe it well then, because it's alive and kicking today.
There are wars in most countries' history, some they win and some they lose. The same Persians you 'wiped' out later helped Abbasids the most to topple the Umayids and Abbasid themselves were wiped out by Mongols. Then it became all about Ottomans and Persia (yeah, the same one you wiped out), with no other Arab empire being able to rise until Arabs were freed from Ottoman rule.
See? You have also lost wars so as us, so as all other empires in the world. Nothing special.
And the people or country you 'wiped' out happened to have the greatest contribution to the so-called Islamic Golden age.

Yeah I also disagree with his parts, and I condemn name calling regarding any race or ethnic group. I have seen Iranians calling names for Arabs, Arabs calling names for Iranians and also Turks calling names for Iranians or vice versa. Although they are absolute minority in each group, but they still exist.

We in the ME all share parts of our history together, it's just that we haven't grown up enough to know the differences and deal with the similarities. Look at Europe now,despite their many similarities and differences, they are proud of their nations and still, respect other ones, no matter how many wars they have fought with each other during history, including the latest and bloodiest one, WWII.

Well, The Iranian heritage has never been unfamiliar to the ME, so yes, I agree.

Something I really admire about Iranians is that they take pride in their history, and consider Persian heritage as superior to their religious identity. Even in a free for all forum like this, Iranians refer to other religions with respect.

Countries which use religion as their centerpiece and their identity are digging their own graves. They will always be conflicted among themselves; between a religious (aka retro) and progressive identity. Pakistan, Israel are prime examples.

Zoroastrianism? Lot of Iranians view it favorably, I've seen many that wear Farvahar necklaces (a Zoroastrian symbol). Zoroastrianism is practiced by Iranians, although they are a shrinking minority...

All Iranians follow Zoroastrianism indirectly to some extent, Nowruz-celebrations as we see them today in Iran, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, etc... are remnants of Zoroastrian traditions with fire being a central element. Some of the items of Haft Sīn tables also come from here I think.

They are also represented politically

Well, Iranians have their own version of Islam, which, in my quite biased opinion, I tend to say it's better than that of the Arabs. So, probably, nope, they don't like the Caliphates. Religious Iranians insult them for being the wrong kind of Muslims, Secular ones curse them simply for being 'Arabs'. Ask any Wahhabite to tell you stories of how Persian Rafidi Sun worshipping Jews destroyed their beloved caliphates, Abu al-moslem and Al-toosi and all...
