Difa-e-Pakistan council to launch protest movement for Jerusalem’s defense

RAWALPINDI: Jamiat-ud-Dawah (JuD) Ameer and Difa-e-Pakistan Council central leader, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed on Friday has demanded that the prime minister convene an Islamic Summit Conference on the transfer of Israeli capital to Jerusalem.

While addressing the inaugural session of the “Defense of Jerusalem” conference, he said that the announcement of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is not only a danger to Jerusalem but two holy mosques, Makah, Medina, the Middle East and the entire Islamic world is under a severe threat.

“The Jews conspiracy is behind US President Donald Trump’s announcement and it is an open declaration of war against Islam”, he added. Hafiz Saeed stated that the American plan and dream will be buried in Jerusalem and it would never succeed in its nefarious designs.

He said that 60 Islamic countries have armed forces equipped with modern technology and are enriched with a lot of resources and went on to edict these countries to mentally prepare to accept the challenge of challenging the US President adding that all the resources of Pakistan including the armed forces would be used for the respect and defence of the Islamic world.

The JuD ameer has demanded that the PM and federal cabinet members announce an ultimate strategy regarding the Jerusalem issue and convene an Islamic Summit in this connection as most of the Islamic countries did not participate in the Turkey summit.

He announced that the Difa-e-Pakistan Council would launch a movement against Israeli conspiracy and for the defence of Jerusalem.

He said that former PM Nawaz Sharif had faced these circumstances due to an amendment in the finality of prophethood laws and advised him to avoid confrontation with the army and judiciary.

Hafiz Saeed also announced that Difa-e-Pakistan council would celebrate 2018 as Kashmir solidarity day to express their sympathies and resolve to continue the struggle for the complete liberation of occupied Kashmir.

Palestine's Pakistan envoy shares dais with Hafiz Saeed, India issues demarche

NEW DELHI: India slammed Palestine on Friday for its ambassador in Pakistan sharing a platform with JuD/LeT chief Hafiz Saeed at a rally in Rawalpindi. India is serving a strongly worded demarche to the Palestine government, expressing displeasure.

In a late evening statement, MEA spokesperson said tersely, "We are taking up the matter strongly with the Palestinian ambassador in New Delhi and with the Palestinian authorities".

Pictures of the Palestinian ambassador to Pakistan, Waleed Abu Ali circulated on social media after he reportedly attended a rally organized by the Difah-e-Pakistan Council in Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi. Difah-e-Pakistan Council is an umbrella group of 40 religious and extremist groups in Pakistan, headed by the JuD chief, Hafiz Saeed. Saeed is banned as a global terrorist by the UN and is accused as the mastermind of the 26/11 attacks. Saeed used the rally to call for an "Islamic summit" to defend Jerusalem from Israel.

The presence of the Palestinian envoy at a JuD rally is a slap on the face for India- just last week India voted for a UNGA resolution against the US decision to recognise Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.

India, like 127 other countries voted on the principle that the status of Jerusalem would be decided after a deal between Israel and Palestine. India's vote was seen to be against Israel, a close friend of India, as well as US, its close strategic partner.

The Modi government came under some criticism from its own supporters who thought India had let its friends down. The Israeli government too registered its protest against the Indian vote.

It's not even against Israel per se, but US and its decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital. But protesting against the US in Pakistan is nothing new.

But we should support the Palestinians out of principle, since Israel stole land.
