Two people were killed when Army's ALH Dhruv helicopter crashed in a forest area in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district Wednesday evening.
"The dead apparently include the pilot and co-pilot of the Army Aviation Unit," SHO Ajas Tariq Ahmed said.
He said that they were yet to identify the personnel as they have burned completely.
The helicopter crashed and immediately caught fire in the Laman (Safapora) forests in Saderkoot area on Wednesday evening, police said.
Rescue teams of the army, police and fire tenders rushed to the spot.
Two bodies were recovered and efforts were on to find out if there were other occupants in the helicopter.
Witnesses said that the helicopter belonging to 13 RR was flying in the sky as per routine when it crashed near Laman forest in the area.
"Every evening the helicopter takes rounds above the area, apparently a security measure," said a local who didn't want to be named.
"There was a huge noise which was followed by smoke and flames," locals said.
