Good Lord! Indian cities dont even figure in that list. Given our winter smog problem, I am not overtly surprised though.

That is good that no Indian city is on this list.

The major reason that BD is still on it is the crap infrastucture - as the metro lines and bypass roads get built then it will move out of the bottom ten.

Other reason is that Dhaka has such poor educational facilities - government is doing something about this but like infrastructure it will take years to have a noticeable effect.

Tehran is a fairly modern, well administered city, and with a separate local govt. which collects all the tax, and not funded by the federation to run affairs.

The index has many clauses on restrictions, like on clubs, on other things, that is one reason it is in the list of least liveable cities.

The only thing Dhaka is better is in environment and far behind in other factors. This is because of all the waterways and greenery surrounding the city. Karachi is a dry desert land basically.

What is this infatuation with competing with Pakistan....why not compete with the 1st World...so many time I have seen crispy articles like this.

Of course, Karachi. You will feel the power of the Pakistani navy when you are in Karachi. There is nothing similar in Dhaka. You will only find garbage and traffic in Dhaka, while Karachi is beautiful. Not to mention that Dhaka is one of the top polluted cities in the world

Friendly comparison between 2 similar sized S Asian cities. This is the first year that Dhaka has been placed higher than Karachi on this list.

Anyway Dhaka is moving upwards as it was 4th on this list 5 years ago and now 7th.

It will take some more years but the first thing to do for Dhaka is to move out of this list.
