The canister is not visible, but the chassis is clearly 16x16

How do you know that is DF-41 and not some other missile? It could be that DF-31A finally get's more mobile TEL.

Yes, there's a possibility it could be DF-31A on a new TEL, but i think this is not the case.

Since 1999 parade and in 2009 parade both times DF-31/A was in truck-trailer configuration, in more than 10 years they didn't developed a off-road TEL version (China did that with the DF-21, so it was certainly and easily feasible). This could mean that Second Artillery is satisfied with the truck-trailer configuration. After all they can be safe in the underground Great Wall, there's no need to disperse across China. Firing spots are just outside the caves.

Instead DF-41 since 2007 pics already was in this 16x16 all-terrain TEL. The wheels configuration is the same of the early pics.

However, let's wait for some more pics. But I bet it's actually the DF-41.

14000 km range with 10 MIRVs, even russian Topol M pale in comparison!

Can the Missile defence shield in Japan shot down the DF-41?

Yes, it can but with decoy and MIRV. Chances of missile defence shield trying to block all the warheads diminish.

Theoretically only US and China can shoot down the highly advanced missile such as DF-41.

However, the American GMD is even less reliable than China's, so no, Japan has no capability to shoot down DF-41.

Those barking Nippons can't even shoot down the primitive rocket from North Korea, all they can do is keep barking.

Meanwhile China doesn't need DF-41 to deal with Japan, with DF-21/DF-25 and CJ-10 is enough to nuke Japan back into stone age. :coffee:

first of all, Japan would be too short for DF-41. So any defense shield would not be able to shoot down DF-41.

Secondly, the NMD is much more mature that what China have. No one really know the test parameters of Chinese missile test while US tests are open. Also, China only conducted two tests. US had two successful tests by early 2000s.

But I agree that China is second only to US when it comes to ballistic missile defense against ICBM beside detonate a nuke to shoot down ICBMs(Using KKV). Actually, only these two countries are in the game. Everyone else is outside looking in.

Well, US has conducted 5 EKV tests, the success rate was 1 out of 5.

While China has only conducted 2 EKV tests so far, but the success rate was 2 out of 2.

We don't talk about the performance on the paper, but we talk about the actual performance. :coffee:

The success rate of the US tests is better than 1 out of 5. check out that page again.

Besides that, the US system is deployed to prevent test firing from North Korea, which had just tested another nuke.

The success rate of the US terminal-phase interception is not bad, see PAC-3.

However, we are talking about the midcourse interception, where US has an abysmal sucess rate.

No doubt US is overall the most advanced military technology nation, but she can also lose the edge in some domains compared to other military powerhouses like China and Russia. :coffee:

To shoot down an ICMB you need to have an operational ABM system, not just conducticting some dubious "tests". There are only two countries that have operational ABM systems - US and Russia. Therefore Chinese capability to shoot down advanced ICBM in real life is currently zero.
