Deliver anywhere in the world in ONE HOUR. USAF and Elon Musk’s plans to transport cargo by rocket revealed in Air Force budget

.
Interesting concept, although it'd take longer to load/unload than to deliver.

Military supplies is 1 use if it I suppose, although I wonder if the landing site could just be targeted by enemy missiles once it lands, rendering the drop useless.

I can't envisage a commercial role got it tbh. Too expensive.

Best thing to do it launch a Spacex rocket, half way around the world and deploy small pods with heat shields as it comes down with equipment and parachutes that can accurately land nearby friendly forces. Then he Falcon lands on a drone ship somewhere.

With economies of scale and better technologies increasing the life of the reusable rocket and vehicle, this could potentially become our primary way of commercial travel. Just as airplanes did.

Can you imagine a PIA version of these? Aunties refusing to take their seats, screaming babies, people sitting wherever they want, overhead luggage crowded, queue outside the toilet even before take off, flight attendants having to explain to 50% of the people why they need to wear a helmet or whatever...

The things I've witnessed....I'm sure you have as well.

Happened to me and my family in 2004. PIA flight from Frankfurt to Islamabad. It was let’s say „exciting“. I remember this old Baba lying on the floor because he had back pain. Families were not seated together and argued with the flight attendants, toilet doors not locked so people walked in…

Yep it mentions that
"The budget also makes reference to 'air drop capability' indicating a possible interest in releasing payloads over a drop zone from space."

It does seem that landing the thing in a warzone is not practical unless it is a one time thing. Air dropping from multiple Starships seems preferable.

It might be easier to recover skycrane type weapon/supply deployers than a huge rocketship.

This Technology is there in Pakistan for years, Have anyone seen those 70cc and 125cc bikers in Karachi? They can deliver anything anywhere within an hour.

If it’s key spares or Weapons in a fight against China, in the event of war, China would probably use its ABM systems to shoot it down.

People still don't understand how MASSIVE a strategic asset for the US Starship will be.

Certainly moving things from base to base will be impressive. A C17 can deliver an Abrams tank...now you can move it in an hour.
US does many unbelievable things. Congrats.

We make SciFi a reality...:-)
