ISLAMABAD, Jan 8 (APP): Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain Wednesday visited Heavy Industries Taxila and stressed the need of exploring the potential of international market and grab its due share. The government was doing its utmost to enhance the scope of HIT and grab its due share in international market, he said. The Minister further ordered that export targets needs to be met and potential of international markets may be explored fully.
In a detailed briefing, Chairman HIT apprised the Minister about the ongoing and future projects initiated by HIT and expected profit share in market.
He also discussed in detail the welfare projects being initiated by HIT for civilian welfare.
The financial problems faced by HIT were also brought to the notice of the Minister, who assured that the problems would be dealt with at the earliest.
He also assured that the government was business friendly and this sector of defence production had a lot of potential.
He said that the industry would now be run on the lines of the international defence industries and favorable study and research on different models was underway.
It was informed that indigenization policy was helping HIT save huge amounts and the localization of fire and gun control system had helped saved heavy amounts.
The Minister appreciated supply of Armed Personnel Carriers (APCs) to Law Enforcement Agencies in Karachi.
The Minister showed keen interest in the factories and their production capability during his visit to Tank, Gun and APC Factories.
The Minister was accompanied by Secretary Ministry of Defence Production Lt Gen ® Tanvir Tahir.
Earlier upon his arrival at HIT, the Minister was received by Chairman Heavy Industries Taxila Lt Gen Wajid Hussain.
