Liberation of occupied Azerbaijani lands is a strategic goal for the Turkish government, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Monday during a speech in Parliament.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

According to Davutoglu, after the liberation of occupied territories of Azerbaijan, Turkey will also take steps to normalize relations between Ankara and Yerevan.

Turkish PM urges Armenia not be taken hostage to historical events, as well as not to reject offers Ankara to normalize bilateral relations.

The break in relations and closing of the Turkish-Armenian border in 1993 were due to Armenia's claims for recognition of the "Armenian genocide" in the world, as well as Armenia's occupation of Azerbaijani lands.

Why not Armenia attacks Azerbaijan instead. Then you'll see that.

Recently there was cross border mass shelling b/w Armenia and Azerbaijan . They have been attacking each other since the 1990's. No big deal. If armenia attacked Azerbaijan or vice-versa.Both will call Russia to be peacekeeper. Always has been the same after every cross border skirmish.

Then you'll see that

Muscovy have seen threats for centuries .No big deal for us.

Nice story but you will be too late. Azerbaijani forces would take Karabakh before you even realize. They have overwelming forces. Russia would need to engage Azerbaijani forces in any case. And if you get involved. "Turkish peace makers" will also get involved too.

CSTO forces are there in Armenia. Second, no way that Putin will allow either side to have a war. Second,Last time Azeris had manpower superiority ,yet they lost the war. Third,Aliyev is not the Brightest . He isn't Ruslan Auschev or Dzokhar Dudayev.

You mean Zaporozhian? Cossack?

Yes.It is under Koloimysky ,that bloody stinking zhid .But now in process of liberation .

Does that include South Azerbaijan, or is this purely an anti-kuffar affair?

I don't think the Russians fear Turkish peace makers rather the "peace makers" will experience an agonizing burning thermonuclear death if they try to invade a CSTO member
