Czechs get three bids for $2.1 billion fighting vehicle purchase
OCTOBER 15, 2019
PRAGUE (Reuters) - The Czech Republic has received preliminary bids from BAE Systems, General Dynamics European Land Systems and Rheinmetall Landsysteme for its planned purchase of 210 infantry fighting vehicles, the Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
The deal is valued at 50 billion crowns ($2.13 billion) and is the largest military deal in the country’s post-communist history.
The ministry said it would review the bids before talks with the three potential suppliers on submitting a final offer. It said Germany’s PSM Projekt & System Management decided against submitting a bid for its PUMA vehicle.
