Communist Cuba is now richer than Mexico (US serf state) and other Latin American countries


funny how i made a thread about it when worldbank updated their PPP numbers and cuba turned out to be one of the richest latin american countries. Now all of the sudden the US wants to lift the embargo, coincidence? They realized that all of their embargo was a failure and in fact strengthened cuba by making it not a US serf state like mexico.
And people said i am lunatic?

US tactics is now taking influence and trading with cuba to push for color revolution

Cuba is pretty poor. they can brag about there free health care and communism all they want.
if there was no embargo and the Castros never took over then yeah it would be a rich country.

I think its due to the debts which have been write off by Russia but way back in 2010 Cuba Foreign debt was around $72 billion , Cuba's debt outstanding to the Paris Club of creditor nations, an informal group of 19 countries, is officially a bit more than $35 billion.

Its obvious because Cuba will not again make its citizens to suffer and try to benefit with the oil and gas industry. Cuba produces just 55,000 barrels of oil per day. About one-third of that is produced by a Canadian firm called Sherritt International and now even United states companies will invest in oil sector. Just thinking how Russians and Chinese companies will try to enter there.

meh, this has been a long time coming. It was politically unfeasible due to resistance from Cuban exiles in America till recently - the American Cuban community is about evenly divided on this at this point. Most of the rest of the country is neutral, a few die-hards for or against here and there, but by and large people don't care.

The long term impact will likely be a lot of Cuba absorbing American cultural and business. Its not like Cuba is going to take over the US in some way - it'll be American companies moving into Cuba.

My prediction - in 5 years, @senheiser is bitching about how it was better in the old days and wishing Cuba hated the US more. And threatening to bomb the US if meaningless sanctions aren't lifted, oil prices aren't raised, or whatever his hate-of-the-day is then.
