Ukraine after the disintregration of USSR become member of UN with Crimea .Isnt it ?
lol no chance, Ukies vs Russia is more like Bhutan vs IndiaCrimea is going to turn into the next Kashmir.
Interesting, since by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union they got to be part of Ukraine.....I recommend to everyone who doubts in the legality of residents choice of the return of the Crimea to Russia - Go to the Crimea and talk with the locals.
I was in the Crimea several times and I know that the locals have always separated themselves from Ukraine and identified themselves with Russia.
In fact, they considered themselves as occupied territory until 2014. And now they are free and their old dream come true.
Once again - if someone does not believe - then go to Crimea and see for yourself.
And nobody cares about u, sonny boy. Since nothing ever means something according to you or some other version of you here, why bother with anything? Why assume ANYTHING means ANYTHING? Nihilism seems to rule supreme here.Nobody cares about UN, sunny boy. Nobody. You think Lesotho being a UN member state ever means anything? No it doesn't.
If the Soviet Union still existed, no Crimean resident would not have thought about how to go from one Soviet republic to another. It was a mere formality, as the Soviet Union was a single state.Interesting, since by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union they got to be part of Ukraine.....

Exactly. So how come they considered themselves as occupied territory? And if single state, how come there are seperate entries in UN for Ukrain and Belarus, besides Soviet Union? Also of interest is the transfer of Crimea in 1954, shortly after Stalin's death, but before Krushchev in denounced Stalin's use of repression in 1956 and eased repressive controls over party and society (destalinization). If the Soviet Union still existed, no Crimean resident would not have thought about how to go from one Soviet republic to another. USSR: constitutionally, a federation of constituent Union Republics, which were either unitary states, such as Ukraine or Belarus (SSRs), or federal states, such as Russia or Transcausasia (SFSRs), all four being the founding republics who signed the Treaty on the Creation of the USSR in December 1922."federal multinational state",The USSR was jus like the US, a number of states in name only. It was 1 state.

They began to consider themselves an occupied territory after 1991, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. While the country was united, it did not matter - the UkrainianSSR or RSFSR.Exactly. It did not have to do with Ukraine and Belarus being both founding republics and unitary states? They began to consider themselves an occupied territory after 1991, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. While the country was united, it did not matter - the UkrainianSSR or RSFSR.
Ukrainian SSR and Byelorussian SSR were most destroyed during the Second World War, so the Soviet government found it necessary to establish separate delegations of these republics. Besides - 3 members-founder's better than 1.
To Ukraine in 1954 actually. See earlier post in this thread (also for 1990-1992 period).Crimea was part of Russia SSR until 1930s or 40s when it was given to Ukraine SSR. Surely it didn't matter then as they were 1 united country but obviously Crimeans didn't expect the break up 60 years hence. They didn't get a chance to decide and choose if they can go back with Russia in 1991.

The Russian occupied Crimea was populated by the Crimeans Tatars and settled Russians. After World War II Stalin exiled Tatars to Kazakhstan. If Russia wants to claim Crimea then the Tatars have higher claim.
