ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday said Indian hype over bail of the alleged master mind of Mumbai attacks, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi was unnecessary and condemnable.

Addressing a weekly news conference here Thursday, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Tasneem Aslam that it is very disappointing that India has not shared findings of Samjhota Express attack investigations despite assurances at the highest level.

She said the case against Zakiur Rehman was under trial, adding that unnecessary hype and media trials would serve no purpose.

“I may also draw your attention to a totally different situation with regard to the Samjhota Express terrorist attack in which fifty Pakistanis were killed. The investigations and the confession of the mastermind of the attack, Swami Aseem Anand pointed to the involvement of India Military officers and some organizations linked to major political parties. Yet, Aseem was granted bail on 28th August 2014”, Tasneem added.

She said Pakistan and India has exchanged the lists of nuclear installations and prisoners under a bilateral agreement on January 1, revealing that there were 360 civilians and 150 fishermen locked up in the Indian prisons.

However, she said, according to the list provided to the Pakistani High commission in New Delhi, there were 358 Pakistani prisoners including 253 civilians and 132 fishermen behind the bars.

Tasneen Aslam added that US foreign secretary John Kerry would visit Pakistan this year, adding that Pakistan and Iran are in contact in regard with gas pipeline.
