Terming the “One Belt and One Road” a great initiative for development, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi has said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) helped Pakistan’s economy leap forward.

“One Belt and One Road” initiative had been written into resolutions of both UN Security Council and General Assembly and it had gained international community’s widely acceptance, as the initiative would not only help promote the development of world economy, but also unite peoples of different countries and regions for realizing common prosperity, she said in an interview with Chinese newspaper “People’s Daily”. Ambassador Lodhi said that Pakistan welcomed this initiative and participated positively in it.

She said China helped develop the under-developed areas in Pakistan; this was a historic undertaking not only for China and Pakistan, but also for the whole region.

“One Belt and One Road” initiative not only had its economic significance, but also benefited the peace and stability of the whole region, she added.—APP

with the type of deals govt is doing. It is not taking people anywhere.
It's Chinese money and Chinese are building it. Not sure why you're expecting Pakistan Government to be handling the money.

And yes, Pakistan's nominal GDP has crossed the $300 billion mark for the first time.

They are building infrastructure in Pakistan which didn't exist. You think the Chinese are going to take the infrastructure with them as well. Without Chinese money, is Pakistsn going to be built with your pocket change?

I think the type of money Pakistani's possess it can be done with local investment, but then who will buy flats in london

Stupid way to look at investment. So these things do not benefit the common person or the country, so when the power stations come online the electricity will not help lower blackouts, when the metros are built and people can buy cheap tickets it does not help the people move about and lower congestion and pollution. The dams will not store water and generate electricity and hence increase water and power for farmers and industry. No the motorways and trains will not help transport goods and people from one end of the country to other without breaking down due to potholes or broken tracks. The tunnels have not improved safety or cut down travvling times and the factories and other industries that will follow will not help anyone at all.

Can you provide us with a credible source that says Pakistan is paying 7.5% interest rate?
That's much too high of a rate.
