CPC Central Military Commission calls for armed forces' obedience, unity

·All service personnel in military forces are urged to show absolute obedience to the Party.
·All military forces should unify their will to the decision and deployment of the CMC.
·Military officials should constantly try to build a more standardized and solid army.
BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Central Military Commission (CMC) of Communist Party of China (CPC) has called for all service personnel in the country's military forces to show absolute obedience to the Party.

The call was made at a CMC meeting presided over by Hu Jintao, Chairman of CPC Central Military Commission.

All military forces should unify their will to the decision and deployment of the CPC Central Committee to ensure that they "uncompromisingly obey the Party and Central Military Commission's command at any time and under any circumstances", said a statement issued Sunday by the commission.

The statement said China's national defense and military building had encountered complicated changes in the international and domestic environment since the Fourth Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee in Sept. 2004, when Hu Jintao succeeded Jiang Zemin in the top military post.

The commission said it has strengthened ideological and political work among all armed forces to keep the country's military building in a proper political direction in accordance with the new conditions.

It said that the CMC's strategy to improve the ability of the armed forces to deal with multiple security threats and fulfill diverse military tasks had paid off and enabled the military force to accomplish various tough and dangerous assignments.

The commission also said the country's armed forces had been actively transforming their military training from using mechanized equipment to information-oriented facilities.

Despite the achievements that the forces had made, the commission warned that slack management continued to different extents in some ranks.

Military officials should constantly try to build a more standardized and solid army, the statement said.

The commission urged all its members to shoulder a historical responsibility to lead national defense and military building and continue to take the Scientific Outlook on Development as an essential policy and theory for the constructions.

It stressed the commission's members should maintain strategic vision and thinking to improve military management, and establish a regular mechanism to research strategic issues.

CMC Vice Chairmen Guo Boxiong and Xu Caihou, and other members including Liang Guanglie, Chen Bingde, Li Jinai, Liao Xilong, Chang Wanquan, Jing Zhiyuan, Wu Shengli and Xu Qiliang attended the meeting.
