FLEEING Islamic State (ISIS) fighters left behind a mountain of hair after shaving off their beards and dressing as women to escape to the West.
OFF WITH THEIR BEARDS: ISIS jihadis like Abu Bakr-al Baghdadi are trimming their facial hair
A photograph released by Iraqi journalist Hala Jaber on Twitter shows huge mounds of shavings on the ground near the bomb-blitzed city of Aleppo in Syria.
Among the tangle of removed facial hair was discarded packets of Astar razors – a favourite brand in Syria.
Hala wrote: "Jihadi beards shaved off they flee clean shaven 2 Turkey."
Shaving or cutting facial hair is haram (forbidden) under ISIS' strict Sharia law, where death and public flogging are common for the smallest of offences.

BLAST: Islamic State positions are being targeted by Russian bombers
“Most of the people who try to become involved in terrorism in [Britain] are people who were born and brought up here”
Andrew Parker, MI5 director-general
The terror network's fighters all sport shaggy beards.
Some of the freshly-shaved jihadists are dressing up in women's robes and veils in a bid to get away, according to the anti-Isis resistance.
The exodus has been sparked by the pulverising of ISIS strongholds by Russian fighter jets.
Moscow security services claim thousands of terrorists have downed their weapons and fled to Turkey from where they may try to head to Europe as refugees.
Up to 3,000 Brits who headed to Syria and Iraq to join ISIS are feared to be on their way back.

His organisation has foiled six attempted attacks in the past year.
"Most of the people who try to become involved in terrorism in this country are people who were born and brought up here, have come through our education system, and have nonetheless concluded that the country – their home country and the country of their birth – is their enemy," he said.
