The Lahore High Court on Thursday withdrew an amnesty it had earlier been willing to grant Khadim Hussain Rizvi, saying the time to provide a written guarantee — promising that Rizvi will not disrupt law and order if provided bail — has now 'passed'.

Rizvi was taken into "protective custody" by police in Lahore on November 23, 2018, after law enforcement agencies launched a massive crackdown against workers of TLP and Tehreek-i-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYRA).

The crackdown came following Rizvi's call to party members to observe 'martyr's day' on November 25, the anniversary of the Faizabad sit-in.

As we all know I'm no fan of his. However in a country where MQM can wage war in Karachi for decades without a single person being imprisoned for it, where PTM can openly rally for sedition, where journalists can publish treason daily, where state level drug dealers are being released - why keep a hold of him for getting a bit too brave at a protest? He's not done anything anyone else with political connections in this country hasn't done. He just lacks the connections in the elite circles.

And with respect to the past, yes, violence in Karachi should not have been tolerated, but we can’t go on repeating those mistakes. Altaf Hussain has finally been cut down to size and will never return to Pakistan unless it’s to go to prison.

You lot have missed the whole point. Why can LHC let off PMLN goons free, yet hold this goon to account? He's done no actual damage to Pakistan, whereas PMLN has real blood on their hands.

LHC is deliberately trying to create trouble and incite the govt and people and it is working on a hideous agenda. They have let all the thieves loose .. and if the SC does not intervene, then it will have severe consequences for the stability of the institutions and the country.

I don’t agree with what Pir Afzal Qadri did because those few words derailed a party which was on the up.

It's just another example of no democracy for the gareeb. I don't agree with TLP - but the people who vote for them have just as much a right to be part of the political system as everyone else.

My OP was not really about TLP or this case, but actually about LHC and it's pro Noora league antics going unchecked.

I think Khadim Rizvi has the constitutional right to protest in peaceful manner. In November 2017, Faizabad sit-in protests by the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan was to protect the Muslim identity of Pakistan and I fully supported them since the government lied about the scale and impact of these illegal changes. The PMLN government under pressure from foreign countries changed the oath in the new form-A, the words “I solemnly swear” and replaced it with “I believe” in the clause related to Khatm-i-Naboowat applicable to the non-Muslim candidates. Some political parties including PMLN, PPP, MQM and even PTI were also on board due to foreign pressure for these changes and only Majlis-e-Tahaffuz-e-Khatme Nabuwwat took the right step and protested against these unIslamic changes. The PMLN government claimed it was "clerical error" and they thought that the Pakistani Muslims were that stupid to believe their blatant lies. What if Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari also dropped last three zeroes from the value of their assets and called it a "clerical error".
