This is inevitable due to the amount of imbeciles in UK and I totally support this.

Article contents below:

"Boris Johnson has announced a complete lockdown of the UK, banning people from leaving their homes or meeting in groups of more than two people as the Government scrambles to enforce social distancing measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

In a public address to the nation this evening, the Prime Minister said the public will not be allowed to leave their homes except for a few specific reasons, and could be fined £30 for meeting outside in groups of more than two people.

All non-essential shops will close, as will outdoor gyms, kiosks and places of worship, except for funerals.

The unprecedented measures were prompted by fears in Downing Street that its coronavirus suppression measures have been ignored by the public, and modelling that suggests at least three quarters of people must follow them for the NHS to be kept afloat.

Under the new lockdown, members of the public must not leave their house except to :

  • Shop for essentials, as infrequently as possible
  • Exercise outdoors once per day, alone or with household members
  • Receive medical treatment or provide care
  • Travel to and from work if impossible to work from home"

But I support the lockdown

Yes every country is full of imbeciles.

The government really wanted to let people be responsible but see the amount of idiots mixing over the weekend.

The government was sadly living in a fantasy if they thought everyone would cooperate. All it takes is for some people to not take heed of the advise and the whole plan will fail. As as we have seen, bunch of irresponsible cretins were still going out in hordes as recent as yesterday. These same people that complain about "big government" are acting in this manner which gives the government no choice but to intervene deeper into society. Sadly this country is filled with people that cannot be expected to act like mature responsible members of society. With regards to people hoarding food, supermarkets should learn a lesson from this in order to prevent people doing that in the future. One way to do this is to require people to have a card that they will have to scan whenever they purchase in these supermarkets. This card will hold record of this person's history of purchases which will prevent them from hoarding. This combined with strict general limitation on purchases should help prevent such hoarding in pandemics and other incidents. Like of TESCO already use club cards etc, so this card system will not be hard for them to implement at all.

Unfortunately preventing hoarding will be impossible to do unless the infrastructure was set up first.

It would be a complex undertaking as everyone who is related would need to be entered as "one shop" and then you would need every supermarket to have access to the same database.

The best that supermarkets can do now is to limit the amount of these "essentials" that can be purchased at any one time and also having dedicated early slots for elderly and key workers.

A lot of the local shops including takeaways are profiteering like greedy b**tards. They need to be BOYCOTTED. Don't pay £10 for a chicken burger!

£10 chicken burger...what filth! What happened to this country seriously? And honestly, I welcome today's announcement and would also welcome an armed contingent patrolling the streets to enforce it at gunpoint.

Sharing those data between those big stores will not be a problem. There is various ways you can do this and it is actually quite straightforward. The base technology is actually already there in the form of club cards etc, it just needs expanding and tweaking. Limiting the purchases can help, but it will not stop some of these cretins going store to store. Furthermore, given the number of people going in stores with the aiming of purchasing the same products as others (toilet paper, pasta etc) they will once again empty the shelves quickly. Don't be surprised if a system like I outlined above comes out eventually.

Report them to the CMA. Stores up and down the country are getting fined.

The worst thing is, it's mostly Muslim businesses doing this.

It was well expected move by the government. Let hope if that makes the situation better.

There is no clarity

" Travelling to and from work , only if absolutely necessary "

so that mean people will keep working if they cannot do their work from home and will be using public transport
