Thousands of testing kits and medical masks are below standard or defective, according to authorities in Spain, Turkey and the Netherlands.

Europe has reported hundreds of thousands of cases of coronavirus.

More than 10,000 people have died in Italy since the outbreak began.

The virus was first detected in China at the end of 2019. The government implemented strict lockdown measures to bring it under control.

What’s wrong with the equipment?
On Saturday, the Dutch health ministry announced it had recalled 600,000 face masks. The equipment had arrived from a Chinese manufacturer on 21 March, and had already been distributed to front-line medical teams.

Dutch officials said that the masks did not fit and that their filters did not work as intended, even though they had a quality certificate,

"The rest of the shipment was immediately put on hold and has not been distributed,” a statement read. “Now it has been decided not to use any of this shipment.”

Spain’s government encountered similar problems with testing kits ordered from a Chinese company.

It announced it had bought hundreds of thousands of tests to combat the virus, but revealed in the following days that nearly 60,000 could not accurately determine if a patient had the virus.

The Chinese embassy in Spain tweeted that the company behind the kits, Shenzhen Bioeasy Biotechnology, did not have an official license from Chinese medical authorities to sell its products.

It clarified that separate material donated by the Chinese government and technology and retail group Alibaba did not include products from Shenzhen Bioeasy.

Turkey also announced that it had found some testing kits ordered from Chinese companies were not sufficiently accurate, although it said that some 350,000 of the tests worked well.

Allegations of defective equipment come after critics warned China could be using the coronavirus outbreak to further its influence.

In a blog post last week, EU chief diplomat Josep Borrell warned that there is “a geo-political component including a struggle for influence through spinning and the ‘politics of generosity’.”

“China is aggressively pushing the message that, unlike the US, it is a responsible and reliable partner,” he wrote. "Armed with facts, we need to defend Europe against its detractors."

What’s the situation in Europe?
On Monday, Spain reported 812 new deaths in the space of 24 hours – bringing its total death toll to 7,340. It now has more than 85,000 infections – surpassing the number of cases reported in China.

New measures have also come into force in Spain banning all non-essential workers from going to their jobs. The restrictions will be in place for at least two weeks.

Italy remains the worst affected country worldwide. More than 10,000 people have died from the virus there, and it has recorded nearly 100,000 infections. Only the US has more confirmed cases, although the death toll there is far lower.

Because the first batch of delivery was faulty, also Turkey has canceled orders for the chinese antigen kit. It is not very difficult for countries to produce these kits. Also most of them are already producing own kits. However, there will be a capacity problem for a month or two. Unfortunately, Chinese companies are turning the low control conditions created by this emergency situation into a profit opportunity. Let's leave the antigen kits aside. It turned out that about 1 million masks that the Netherlands bought from a Chinese company were faulty. Yes, they did send counterfeit medical comsumables to even the simplest medical needs. The Chinese state should impose heavy sanctions on such companies.

I looked into the case and cannot help being upset.

KN95 is the standard acknowledged in countries like China(China GB2626-2006), Japan and USA (United States NIOSH-42CFR84), those KN95 masks were qualified in China and USA, but not qualify for European standards FFP2 (Europe EN 149-2001).

The dutch purchased KN95 masks that were perfectly qualified under China’s criteria, and such crucial information was by law required to be included in purchase orders and contracts, meaning that the dutch KNEW before purchase this is KN95 and not EU standard masks.

And now the dutch health ministry tested the masks with another standard and announced recall because they found the masks defective.

This is purely bad faith, and disgusting.

You knew what you bought, and there are FFP2 masks manufacturers in China that can produce EU-qualified masks.

You knowingly bought into one standard, and called it under qualified by another standard.

I don’t know what to say anymore.

And here is the Spanish one:

The spaniards recently purchased the test kits, through a Spanish local dealer, manufactured by a Chinese biotech company named BIOEASY based in Shenzhen, and they said to the press that those test kits were faulty and only showed 30% accuracy.

Chinese company sold sub-standard test kits: Spain, Czech

Czech press also reported the test kits from China were faulty and deficient.

However later, Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Jan Hamacek (CSSD) said that the wrong methodology has probably been chosen. "In my opinion, this is not about some scandalous revelation that it is not working," said Hamacek after a government meeting.

According to Hamacek, the Chinese rapid test kits can be "used when the disease has been around for some time," "or if someone returns after quarantine after fourteen days," he added. The leader said that in his opinion, it would be most appropriate to use the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test (conventional lab test) to detect the disease at an early stage.

Rychlotesty na koronavirus z Číny mají podle krajské hygieničky chybovost až 80 procent

Later the Spanish authorities clarified the test kits manufactured by Bioeasy in Shenzhen were qualified under European’s CE standards, and the Spanish government decided to honor the contract and import more from Bioeasy.

These snakes wouldnt even give up a chance in the middle of epidemic to stab China at back. More or less shows what kind of human being they are, or they dont even qualify to be one.

They can't let China in easily else China will be the hero in this crisis. The Chinese system cannot be superior to the Western system else alot of countries will follow suit. The Dutch rejected the madfks not because it was fake, they rejected it because it was not European standard and a couple were defective. 600 000 masks and there is bound to be some defect rate. They are politizing this. Notice the Spaniards are now buying bioeasy test kits again after understanding how it works.

No, never, I have always praised the sacrifices China has made in combating against this epidemic. In the case above, I never agree with the fact that the problems faced by companies are costed to an entire nation. We are in extraordinary conditions in terms of medical needs. This can dangerously shorten all procedures. It is necessary to detect the current problems and solve this when in early period, for both China and its customers.

Totally agree! Credits to China for trying tho. Hell to the loser companies with no integrity. I myself am a victim of fake N95 masks from Aliexpress.

Just when you think they can't, these sh!t companies go even lower. Reminds of a couple years back during the solar eclipse there were counterfeit glasses going around that had potential to cause blindness due to fake film tint. These things literally cost pennies to make!

When we write this kind of stuff, some Chinese PDF members attacks us, but the main situation is, some Chinese companies are seriously damaging China's reputation. The Chinese state has many control instruments over its economy that almost no other similar state has. The ministry of commerce can easily eliminate these businesses. China has not come easy these days, but there is a huge increase in the number of businesses that spend these efforts very easily. At least in this Covid process, China needs to show maximum precision in the medical field.

Not a single lie detected. Wake up China...

Most N95 are fake, cause there is no difference in appearance. When they are real they could adhere to different standards in THE Dutch case, it was adhering to US and Chinese standards but no EU.

There are so many manufacturers. Now, its so hard to control, they make the ROI in 14 days, every Tom dick and Harry is making masks. As the saying goes having low quality masks is better than none.
