What's new

Construction of warship for Pakistan underway

Than whats the point of TOT
Pakistan should have bought 3-4 milgem off the shelf and got tot for type54

I think share quantity of IN means that a couple of 2500-3000 tones ships are better than 1 5-6000 tone ship..as we will be focusing mostly on aerial denial

The Navy will of course build more corvettes as funds permit. The TOT will not be wasted. You're right about having a greater quantity at a lower price rather than one or two big ships.
The Type54A will seen an expansion as will the Milgems.

Ka-27
Length: 11.3 m (37 ft 1 in)
Main rotor diameter: 2× 15.8 m (51 ft 10 in)
Main rotor area: 392.2 m2 (4,222 sq ft) 3-bladed contra-rotating rotors

Sea king
Length: 54 ft 9 in (16.7 m)
Rotor diameter: 62 ft (19 m)

Can operate ka-27 but sea-king with 62 feet dia vs 52 feet is big ?

China has setup new strategy , where they control there all trade route through Gawadar port. Crew of these ships will be Pakistani but equipment and strategy will be Chinese. In near future , Chinese will park AC near Gawadar port. Some much going on , but less media coverage.
PN will eventually be operating in tandem with PLAN, given how things are shaping up. This automatically means they will have a lot of similar equipment in place.

I think the 'corvette' class is the Damen OPV.

The PN can basically get several of Damen OPV 1900s for the price of one MILGEM Ada.

I think the Jinnah-class could be, especially if the ToT includes the design, the PN's next-gen mainstay frigate that it will build to supplant old ships or expand the fleet through the 2030s. Basically, the PN's Project Azm.

It has to be...Pakistan should build upon the jinnah class its technology base

Well put, people must think of the cost implications as maintenance of ships is a very expensive affair. The natural thing to do will be another follow up order of four Type54's.

How about this Type 057/054B Frigate Design?; Same VLS as the Type 055 Destroyers but mid point between the 055 and the 054A. It seems likes like the sweet spot for the PN; high end capabilities in a modest hull.

It would be a similar concept to an AAW Italian Fremm

What's the difference between 052D and 055?

- but approximately 1+ billion $ (or above) for a single Type-55 DDG why not go for 2 or 3 in the same budget .... ???

In short, 052D is for defensive mission, 055 is for offensive mission.
In general, offensive weapon is always more expensive than defensive one.
bomber > fighter
SSBN > SSN
