What's new

Congratulations liberals, for another self-goal in forcing Bloomsbury on Delhi riots book

.
Unfortunately, and with the greatest personal regards for you, knowing you to be different from the usual unkempt oaf who backs the BJP, this is a contradiction. Once you support the BJP, you no longer have control over the direction in which the party leadership will take the party. You are then part of their bigotry, and their exclusionary views; it is not possible to support them and not support their actions.
Sir, you can rant against as much as you want without proof, but BJP hasn't taken any unconstitutional step yet. They are bind to Indian constitutional. You have problem with them because they are not hypocrites like fake liberalism, and because they advertise Indian culture openly. You have problem with them bcz they chant "sanatana Dharma mantra" openly, not because of their policy. You have problem with them because they have ended appeasement politics. And I assure you that you will hate them more after UCC will be forumed because it will make every Indian citizen equal under constitutional. You hate equality Joe sir, you praise appeasement.

.
Well, that is the agenda that BJP spokespersons like Snake Sambit Patra try to push. Or their supporters like that foul-mouthed woman Shubhrastha.

BC are like first cousins of our mullahs, may be a distant relationship with a different religion all scum inside. Ours gives fatwas and yours give patriotism certificate.

But a couple of years ago they wanted to remove "Secular" and "Socialist" from the introduction to our Constitution.

What will you say about Yogi Adityanath, supposedly a monk and definitely a right-winger but is also a Chief Minister ? Is Yogi a liberal ?
Yes, he is libral, you cant Judge anyone by their fashionable clothing they wear, but by actions they takes.
Yogi hasn't snatched any minorities rights in UP since he became PM. My friend journo from UP told me that most of Muslims are happy with his work in his constituncy. He never makes different policies for majority and different for minority. He treats equally everyone.
The problem with you guys, and sir @Joe Shearer is, that you offends him because he openly carry Indian culture and chant Mantras of Indian civilization. Thats why you have a doubt that a monk can't be liberal!
Tell me reason why Yogi must carry an Arabic culture with him, not Indian?

. .
I never heard like this from them. Who said it?

From as recent as June this year :
A BJP member of the Rajya Sabha is set to move a resolution in the House on Friday, seeking the removal of the phrase “socialism” from the preamble of the Constitution, arguing that the word is “redundant” in the current scenario, and that the word should be dropped to create space for “economic thinking without a particular thought”.

The preamble of Constitution declares India to be a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic.

Rakesh Sinha has given a notice, seeking the Chairman’s permission to move the resolution to drop the word “socialist” on Friday during the time allotted for Private Members’ Bill, and his notice was admitted on Wednesday.
In 2015, controversy was sparked by a government advertisement on Republic Day, which featured the preamble with the words “secular” and “socialist” missing.

Are Arabic and Persian cultures not assimilated into "Indian" culture ?

First, I don't support if anyone said the word "secularism" should drop from Indian constitutional, may be its individual wish. This is not party line.

Second, yes, Arabic and Persian culture assimilated into Indian culture, and many more...! But who denying you or snatching your rights to follow your culture? No one!
But as an Indian, I will follow my culture, not an Arabic, but I will respect it.
Is this make me hardliner?

Good to know.

may be its individual wish. This is not party line.

No, it is the party line too. I quote again :

I think in five years time, if things proceed as they do now, we will see a pronounced right-wing tilt in Bollywood too.

But as an Indian, I will follow my culture, not an Arabic, but I will respect it.

No. :tup:

"Its party line too"
No, not at all! It was just a controversy. If it was party line, they would have been presented it on the floor by now. But it was never done, even nobody talk about it within BJP.
Controversy happens because of some fools within Party. It doesn't make party line. The day BJP drop "Secularism" from constitutional, I will drop my support for them. Till then they are managing my support. But I have full confidence in BJP, that they are not gonna any foolish decision which hurt secularism in India.
Bcz India is run by constitution, not by any party.

Letting market forces (public outrage being part of that I suppose) drive decision making by private individuals/organizations/entities?

On the surface it seems relatively benign and completely in line with capitalism driven behavior, but, as we have seen in the US, with some businesses going to court to 'protect their right' to deny services to the LGBTQ community or refuse to offer birth control coverage to their employees because of 'religious reasons', this is a slippery slope and is more likely to backfire against liberals in the long run, given that the right wing has a much larger target list of things they want 'banned' and has a much more vocal and aggressive base that can amplify their 'public outrage' and therefore mold 'market forces' to fit their agenda.

Furthermore, any kind of bans or restrictions make liberals look like hypocrites. Your average individual isn't going to care or pay attention to sophisticated arguments explaining the differences between bans on right wing propaganda vs Salman Rushdie or MF Hussain.

This ties back to some of the other threads @Joe Shearer has posted, that talk about the disconnect between the liberal intelligentsia and the 'common man'.

A benighted, bigoted anti-Constitutional Islamophobe.

An utter failure as a Chief Minister, and a blot on the face of democracy.

Congrats Pseudo Liberals . There I fixed it for you . Shouldn't actions decide who a person is or what they should be called ? distorting the truth to suit your
Pre-Determined narrative as opposed to building the narrative based on the truth is a leftist trait , others being over simplification and false equivalence .

There is the letter of the law, and there is the spirit of the law. Merely hiding behind the shade of the letter of the law is not much of a defence. We all know what is going on.

Let me list them:
  • Bearer bonds for political finance: Undoing all the efforts of the Election Commission's struggle to bring about transparency in political funding;
  • Demonetisation - a decision taken by an individual without the Cabinet being even involved, even at a conversational level, with the RBI sidelined;
  • The use of the Army as contract labour without a contract, for a crooked Godman's Yoga celebration
  • Art. 370: Proven again and again, and with a Supreme Court verdict stating clearly that it was impossible to legally remove this enabling act, anomalous though it was;
  • Art. 35A: Removed though even BJP-ruled states have similar clauses;
  • Purchase of MLAs with large sums of money, as a substitute for winning elections;
  • The Rafale purchase: with all its preposterous arithmetic, presented to the nation as a patriot act, and an act opposition to which was tantamount to treason;
  • Assignment of the Rafale offset programme to an inexperienced company set up almost overnight;
  • The killings of rationalists and secularist intellectuals, as the culmination of a long campaign to impugn them and their work;
  • CAA and the NRC, and the blatant move to create second class citizens;
  • The destruction of the integrity of Supreme Court through false sexual harrassment charges against the Chief Justice;
  • The witch-hunt of the Tableeghi idiots;
  • Kafeel Khan; no need to add a word to his name, the entire episode is germane;
  • The sidelining of the dissident Election Commissioner;
Can we seriously claim that these were entirely unconnected event?
