The CCP probably understands that a full scale war against Republic of China will likely cause a full-scale war with the US, especially when TSMC, Fomasa Plastics, Giant, Foxconn and other Taiwanese copanies stay relevant in the industry. PRC will continue dick around and beat his chests to increase the pressure on ROC, but ulimately won't actually take over the island country with military means. They probably prefer ROC to crumble internally, though.
On the other hand, China's aggressive military incursions will further encourage neighbouring Indo-Pacific countries to form some sort of military alliance against China, so I doubt China has made a strategically sound decision.
the PRC hopes for peaceful reunification of course, but will not rule out war. if it absolutely has to fight the us or lose taiwan, then the PRC will fight the us and its chances of winning are growing day by day so no need to rush it if not required. if the CCP doesn't fight, then they'll actually get the revolution the US keeps hoping will happen in china. a couple red lines are very clearly set. for example a open declaration of independence by the RoC, or trying to acquire nuclear weapons will mean war. after all if you don't fight for what you consider your core territory then no one should believe you will fight for anything at all.
lol China's aggressive military incursions? the us does like 1000+ flights into the chinese ADIZ each year, some turning around mere kilometers from chinese territory space, Britain even sails halfway around the world just to provoke china. and last I check, US aggressive behaviors like the recent AUKUS is raising concern all over asia and even France/Germany/EU.

china has made a very sound decision. the us tried to salami splice china's Taiwan policy with visits in the name of covid relief, sailing ships around the island, thinking about changing the name Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office. US tried to provoke china in all areas, with NED/CIA funding for HK used condoms, false news about Xinjiang, trade war, various pacts' clearly aimed at containing china using the thinnest of covers, 5 eyes, QUAD, AUKUS. all those us actions have failed, is failing, or will likely fail/do nothing. meanwhile china did something to actually change the facts on the ground. the planes flying around taiwan will become the norm and if pushed they can and will overfly the island, if the RoC takes kinetic action against the overflights then its war, and it'll be war started of the RoC.
