The current Chief of Staff of the Army, Said Chanegriha
Facing urgent internal political, economic and social challenges, Algeria must also respond to very important geostrategic developments affecting the region in order to ensure the security of the Nation.
The Algerian newspaper "Algerie part plus" reported that the Algerian military judiciary had arrested the former head of the Algerian foreign intelligence, Mohamed Bouzit, for his involvement in heavy charges related to corruption, disclosure of information that threatens national security, "communication with the UAE and the disclosure of military secrets to the Gulf Emirate."
According to the data, the head of Algeria's foreign intelligence service had "handed over to the UAE serious data concerning state secrets and many sensitive military data, and the country's social situation related to the movement at a time when the Algerian regime was facing popular demonstrations every Friday, as thousands of Algerians took to the streets to demand civil state and overthrow the ruling military regime.
Mohamed Bouzit, who is now in the hands of the security services that are investigating him, faces heavy charges, and two former officers close to him were arrested based on an investigation launched by the Blida Court.
Bouzit’s arrest came months after his dismissal last January from his position as director of external security, in which he spent only 7 months. Mali, and the increase of Moroccan diplomatic influence in the face of the Algerian retreat.
It is worth noting that the military prison in Blida has more than 30 generals and dozens of officers who were arrested on various charges, including “disclosing state secrets, outrageous wealth, and harming the security of the country.” The sudden death of the former Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Ahmed Gaid Salah.
it turns out that the Directorate of Documentation and External Security (DDSE), one of the branches of the Algerian secret service, has been suffering for several months from a serious internal crisis due to the incompetence of its officials.
Major General Mahfoud, whose real name is Noureddine Mekri, is the current head of the DDSE.
More than 70 years old, he is physically unable to carry out his mission, moving with great difficulty following a fall that seriously handicaps him.
The second person in charge of the structure has just been reframed by the highest military hierarchy following repeated breaches and the transmission of numerous erroneous reports.
Lieutenant-Colonel Ramel Amirat alias Tarek, who had been parachuted into the head of anti-terrorism within the DDSE, was, according to our information, removed from the army!
According to the same sources, the one who had been in charge of the security office at the Algerian Embassy in Rome and then in Paris, will very likely return to prison in the coming weeks.
It should be remembered that the now ex-soldier Amirat, very close to Said Bouteflika, had already been in a military prison in Blida before being rehabilitated, thanks to the relations maintained by his family with the upper military hierarchy.
Many other executives and personnel of the DDSE were also heard by the services of the Directorate of Army Security (DCSA) in the context of a large internal corruption investigation.
Foreign Intelligence has never experienced such a dangerous situation since its inception. Its various officials and certain executives who have succeeded each other over the past few years have only weakened the military institution and the civil institutions of the State, more fragile than ever!
