Antiship cruise missile / unified antiship cruise missiles. Resolution of the USSR to start work on the development of rocket made of 05/06/1981 Draft project developed and adopted by the NGO "Engineering" (OKB-52 Chelomei) 03.10.1982, the General Designer - G.A.Efremov, Chief Designer - V.A.Modestov ( source ).

Since 1991, a group of developers led by chief designer of the rocket directions Vadim Merkulov ( source ). In 2011, organized by a group of leading designers on 3M55 (Sergei Bunakov, Denis Vitushkin, Yuri and Alexei Vorotyntseva Naydenov). Testing of RCC was supposed to begin in 1987, but in 1987 only provden throwing launch 3M55 with MRC "Nakata "pr.1234.7 then adopted for IRAs. In 1991 he released the technical documentation, commercial production, conducted ground tests missiles. In the period from 1992 to 1998 probably were tested underwater options RCC "Onyx" in the K-SSGN 452 pr.06704 (upgraded pr.670M SSGN), but as of 2000 tests have not been completed and the rocket is not put into service. In surfaced variant tests were carried out on MRC "Roll forward" pr.1234.7 (see below), in 1996, the complex passed into trial operation of the Russian Navy. In February 1998, an agreement was signed with India on joint development of missile system BrahMos .

After a long break, the state tests at MRC "Roll forward" pr.1234.7 completed by the end of 2002 and the Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation of 23.09.2002 RCC 3M55 "Onyx "was adopted by the Navy. Production of missiles being at "Strela" (Orenburg). Differs from other developments of OKB-52 implementation of the principle of "fire and forget", "lo-hi-lo" flight profile and versatility to any launch platforms (water, air, earth). The missile complex and "Onyx" are intended to be placed on surface (export version "Yakhont") and underwater (export version of the "Jasper") courts. Meets the titles of the complex P-800 and P-100.

GOS RCC "Yakhont" is a board-channel active-passive radar with complex wideband coherent signals with phase-code manipulation randomly in browse mode and in tracking mode when operating in active mode. GOS performs rearrangement of time-frequency parameters has high noise immunity with respect to various kinds of jamming, withdrawing a range and angle coordinates, and a passive dipole type noise clouds and corner reflectors adaptive jamming situation and conditions of application.
