What's new

COAS to be part of National Development Council

So army needs a heavy share in FATA development fund like fee for clearing the area which they have used like a toilet paper in Past. Isn't it?
another idiotic comment ...
All civilian institution are present in that region .... ????

Should we let people of FATA suffer till the time all civilian institutions become functional in that region ....???

We should not use resources already AVAILABLE in that region that i.e. ..... Armed forces ???

How has it become a fee for Army when they already refused the increment in the defence budget in favour of DEVELOPMENT in one of the most deserving region which was suffering from terrorism and lack of infrastructure ....???

I just don't understand how people lost their capability of thinking straight just because of their biased toward a National Institution,
have they forget Army in past already did development work in FATA from its own budget on limited scale now after given up their share for development of that region and become the partner in development council both Civil administration and Army will be in better position to coordinate the development activities for terror hit region of FATA

.
Before people criticize this move, they should understand the circumstances. The development of FATA and Waziristan region is being headed by the Army, and if you want to look at how it is coming along, you should check an RT documentary on Waziristan.
provide link plz

.
No shit. Economy is matter of national security. Army is also responsible for the mess we are in economically that will effect integrity and defence of state.

.
It'll remain to be seen what value he can add to the committee.

.
What is exactly a Chief of Army staff supposed to do in an economic committee? Sharing economic intel is a job for other departments, including the ISI.

Could you please give one example of military being involved in economic matters in a developed society? In our case problem lies in the history. Our military is too ambitious and has this "holier than thou" attitude towards rest of the society. Though a vast majority politicians leave a lot to be desired but it doesn't mean that we keep handing over political spheres over to military. Army is already busy running a massive economic empire in the name of soldiers welfare.

What level officer will be assisting PM if it isn't COAS and that's not economic advisor role rather to assist in regard to ground Intel, peace keeping and possible future threats. You have an extra hand to lend you some help so why not to utilize it instead. It's in regard to areas threatened with security issues.

exactly and for all the idiots who are jumping up and down plz note Federal Minister Omar Ayub in his speech in National Assembly today disclosed that this year Federal Government has allocated PKR +180 billion (182 or 186 billion) for development of former FATA region and this become possible in such a hard financial period because of Army who voluntarily given up PKR 176 billion form this year defence budget

And how come self styled genius can forget that our financial difficulties and threat of sanctions are connected with security situation which involves Military at large. It's really easy for the lot to vent frustration having no other reason.

In short COAS should not take part in counsel. It is not his job. isn't it enough? aur kitna khoon choosna hai is army nay mulk ka?

Absolutely not.

Developing long neglected areas like FATA is the responsibility of the civilian government.
hahahhahah... Who let them to be neglected? I think we are not here to discuss the history.

What a lame excuse that he is there for FATA. In fact, now army creeped into Finance ministry after Foreign ministry, interior ministry and defence ministry. Soon they will creep into PM house. What stupid army we have like Egypt.

Just because the job is not done by concern civilian authorities no one else should assist in the development of a region which is next to Afghanistan and could become a security threat if ignored further ..... no one should care

Cursing starts when someone find himself short of arguments ....

If the system works, it is a good system.

. . .
Coas needs to read up on S Korean general park chung hee. Our civilian leaders need over site on economic issues. Our opponents are using economic coercion as a pressure tactic. So economic development has become a security issue.

.
If there is no development will the army also take responsibility now.

It is a large council, if you see the number of permanent members. COAS is only one of the members. In no way, that implies that army is taking the responsibility of development. His consultation would be there.

Sometimes, advice that no one can refuse is a good thing.
