COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa on Turkey Visit

COAS visited Turkish Land Force Headquarters where he was received by General Salih Zeki Çolak, Commander Turkish Land Forces and was presented guard of honour. At the Turkish Land Force Headquarters, COAS was briefed on the regional security situation as well as the Turkish Land Forces and their various undertakings in field of training, defence production and peace keeping operations.
COAS was awarded the Legion of Merit in a simple and graceful ceremony in recognition of his services for promotion of Pakistan-Turkey defence ties. Speaking on the occasion, COAS underscored the special place that turkey enjoys in the hearts of all Pakistanis. He dedicated the award to the Shuhada of both Pakistani and Turkish Armed Forces.
Later, COAS called on chief of Turkish General Staff, General Hulusi Akar and discussed matters related to regional security and the role Armed Forces of both countries play towards peace and stability. The two military leaders agreed to further enhance defence cooperation in multiple fields. Turkish military leadership was greatly appreciative of the role Pakistan Army plays against terrorism as well as in peace keeping operations and as a factor of stability in a very volatile region.

The generals' body languages imply they're expecting some ominous staffs to happen in their regions of interest!!! Good that they are sharing info and ideas!! Hopefully, they are working on some emergency plans too!!! By the by, Uncle(s) can't care less and will be of limited effects!!!!

COAS, Turkish president discuss regional security, mutual interest affairs

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday called on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and discussed with him matters of mutual interest and regional security, the Inter Services Public Relations said.

The COAS thanked the Turkish president for perennial Turkish support to Pakistan and its role in bringing peace and stability in the region, the ISPR said in a statement.

On the occasion, President Erdoğan acknowledged sacrifices made by Pakistan and contributions by Pakistan Army in fight against terrorism and militancy.

He said that Islamic countries can contribute immensely towards global peace and stability, and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) offers a platform to do that through conflict resolution and dialogue.

"The Turkish president said that Pakistan plays a very important role towards that end and multi-faceted cooperation between the two brotherly countries will have a positive influence," the statement read.

The two figures noted that Turkey and Pakistan can always count on each other's unconditional and sincere support.

'Potential for Pak-Turk cooperation in defence production'
Earlier, the army chief, who is on an official visit to Turkey, agreed upon the potential for cooperation in the field of security policies, defence production and human resource training with the Turkish defence minister, according to the ISPR.

Matters relating to the regional situation and bilateral security cooperation also came under discussion at the meeting.

General Bajwa, during his visit to Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), was briefed about civilian and military aviation projects undertaken by the aerospace complex. He took an introductory flight in Turkey's T129 attack helicopter.

The COAS appreciated the indigenous technical capability achieved by Turkey and said that Pakistan has great technological and industrial potential which opens the scope for very meaningful defence cooperation between the two countries.

Turkey reiterates support for Pakistan's stance on Kashmir

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yaldarim reiterated his support for Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who is on an official visit to Turkey, thanked the premier on Turkish support to Pakistan in various international fora.

According to the military’s media wing, both discussed matters related to regional security and commonality of challenges facing the two brotherly countries.

PM Yaldarim appreciated the positive role that Pakistan plays in the region as well as in the larger Muslim world.

“Pakistan and Turkey share same stance on many issues and Pakistan supports Turkey’s position on Cyprus as well as its efforts against terrorism of all hue and colour,” the army chief said.

Normally when such visits happen the main focus is not a weapons deal. Issues of strategic importance are discussed and the new developments in the middle east will impact the whole region and will have signifcant repercussion for Pakistan as GC states are taking a rigid stance. Thus Pakistan and Turkey can try to diffuse the situation which some wooden heads are unable to cope with and have started to play in the hands of our enemies.


This time needs a lot of wisdom and mevlana Raumi offers a treasure to us if we want to follow.
