Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed his extreme displeasure over slow implementation and poor utilization of block allocation of two billion rupees meant for the improvement of graveyards in the province.
The Chief Minister directed the Chief Secretary Punjab to convey his extreme displeasure in writing to Commissioners and DCOs for better utilization of these funds.
The Chief Minister has further directed the Chief Secretary to write a letter to Commissioners emphasizing upon the importance of the initiatives of the Chief Minister, along with directions to personally supervise implementation of the schemes initiated under this project.
The Chief Minister said that this initiative should be made part of the agenda of Commissioners’ Conference and its progress be reviewed on regular basis by the Chief Secretary himself.
He ordered that progress relating to implementation, as well as utilization of funds pertaining to each and every scheme, must be discussed and reviewed at the forum of District Coordination Committees, which have already been constituted at district level.
The Chief Minister also directed that necessary action should be taken accordingly in this regard, and a report be submitted to him at the earliest. It may be recalled that this action became necessary when it was realized that not enough attention was being paid to this vital social obligation.
