ISLAMABAD, Sept 28: The cabinet decided on Monday that clocks would be turned back by one hour across the country on November 1.

This was stated by Minister of State for Information Samsam Bokhari who was talking to newsmen after a cabinet meeting. The daylight saving time (DST) was introduced on June 1 with the aim of conserving electricity by utilising an additional hour of daylight and the minister for water and power has claimed to have saved 250MW of electricity per day.

However, questions have been raised about the efficacy of the decision because its enforcement had no effect on the severity of power crisis. There has been a daily loadshedding of 10 to 15 hours in urban areas and of 15 to 18 hours in rural areas all these months. Industrial production has suffered heavily because of closure of several units.

The government has been criticised for abruptly enforcing the DST without having done any homework and realising its consequences.

According to the critics, its objectives could not be achieved as no power-saving measures were taken in government and private offices.

What do you guys think of this proposition, Will it really change anything. Is it a Good idea ?

Thank god... I mean Pakistan's businesses used to close at mid-day here. Hard to get any work done. Everybody is used to a one hour difference. The two hour difference was a pain.
